This meditation guides you through releasing bitterness, resentment, or anger, helping you find peace through forgiveness. You’ll start by acknowledging these feelings without judgment, allowing them to surface naturally. Through a gentle visualization, you’ll imagine these emotions as heavy stones, symbolizing the burdens you’re carrying. As you set the stones down, you create space for compassion, either toward yourself or someone else. This practice isn’t about excusing harm but about freeing yourself from the weight of resentment. You’ll experience a sense of relief as you let go and invite peace into your heart. By choosing forgiveness, you take a powerful step toward healing and emotional lightness. This meditation offers a moment of calm, helping you release what no longer serves you and move forward with a lighter, more peaceful heart.

Transcript

This is a brief meditation to help you with forgiveness.

Let's get comfortable.

Find a comfortable place where you can sit or lie down without being disturbed,

Just for about five minutes.

Close your eyes if it feels okay for you.

Take a deep breath in through your nose,

Filling up your lungs completely,

And then slowly exhale through your mouth.

Let's take another deep breath in and let it out slowly.

Allow your body to start relaxing.

Beautiful.

Now let's bring to mind someone or something that you wish to forgive.

Maybe there's a situation where you really would like to let go of bitterness,

Could be a situation,

Person,

Or maybe even yourself.

Allow any feelings of hurt,

Anger,

Or resentment to come up naturally.

Notice these feelings without judging them.

It's really okay to feel this way.

While you let yourself marinate in those feelings of bitterness and resentment,

Let's talk about forgiveness.

Forgiveness does not mean forgetting.

It does not mean excusing what happened.

It's about freeing yourself from the heavy burden of anger and resentment.

Imagine these feelings as heavy stones you're carrying.

Do you feel their weight?

How they weigh you down and make it hard to move forward?

Now imagine gently setting these heavy stones down.

Picture yourself placing the heavy stones of hate,

Anger,

Resentment,

Hurt,

Place them on the ground one by one.

As you do this,

Say to yourself,

I am choosing to let go.

I am choosing peace.

Reflect on this person or situation that you would like to forgive.

Imagine them in front of you.

If it feels right,

Picture a warm,

Soft light surrounding them.

Is it a struggle to offer them that warm,

Soft light?

It's okay,

Just notice what comes up.

This light represents your compassion and understanding.

It does not mean that you condone what happened,

But that you are ready to release the hold that it has on you.

Say to yourself,

I forgive you.

I release you from my anger.

May you find peace,

And may I find peace.

Feel the warmth of this light spreading through your own heart,

Filling you with a sense of relief and ease.

See if you can really feel how much lighter your body becomes.

If you're forgiving yourself,

Imagine that same warm light surrounding you.

Picture yourself being gentle and kind to your own heart.

Say to yourself,

I forgive myself.

I release myself from guilt and regret.

I choose compassion and peace.

Notice how this act of forgiveness lightens your load.

Feel the tension easing from your shoulders,

The tightness in your chest softening.

Allow this feeling of compassion to grow,

Filling your entire body with warmth and calm.

Remember,

Forgiveness is a process.

It's okay if it takes time,

And it's okay if you don't feel it yet.

It may be that you need to make a practice of it to help you lay down the burden of your resentment.

What's important is that you're taking the first step towards releasing the burden and inviting peace into your life.

Take a moment to sit with this feeling.

Breathe Take a moment to sit with this feeling.

Breathe in deeply.

Exhale slowly.

Feel the sense of lightness and relief.

The sense of lightness and relief that forgiveness brings.

Let the attention settle gently on your breath.

Just a moment of peace,

Noticing the rise and fall of your chest with each inhale and exhale.

Take one more deep breath in.

And slowly exhale.

Gently open your eyes and take a moment to reorient yourself to your surroundings.

Carry this sense of forgiveness and peace with you throughout your day and your week.

Thank you for sharing this compassionate space.

Remember,

Forgiveness is a gift that you give to yourself,

Allowing you to move forward with a lighter heart.
