This Sacred Pause meditation guides you through a 3-minute break. It's an opportunity to let your mind and body rest for just three minutes--taking a pause. This pause is a gift you give to yourself, allowing you to step out of the business of your day and reconnect with the breath and simply rest for a moment. Using the Sacred Pause as a daily practice will help you pause when things are emotionally intense. Taking that pause in the midst of a conflict or intense stress will help you make mindful decisions about how to proceed. Try setting random reminders in your phone, to take the pause a couple of times a day.

The sacred pause is a moment that you offer to yourself.

It's a mini break from everything that's pulling at you.

Let's take this moment to simply pause.

Whatever had your attention before this moment,

Imagine in your mind actually picking it up and setting it aside for three minutes.

A sacred pause is time that you give yourself to rest in your breath.

See if you can relax into this feeling of being cradled by the breath,

Knowing that the world can wait while you clear your mind and relax the body.

Notice what it feels like to know that the world doesn't need you for three minutes.

Gently push away anything that's tugging at you.

It can wait.

Sink into this restful awareness of the pause.

In this pause,

There is nothing to do,

Nowhere to be,

Just letting your body breathe.

If your body or mind are restless,

Assure them it's okay.

It is safe to pause and invite them to rest for a moment.

Let the sounds and smells and sights around you play out their stories.

You don't need to do anything but notice.

Pause for as long as you like and then gently re-enter the world when you're ready.
