Welcome and thank you for being here.
This is a meditation to help you let go of thoughts that may be keeping you awake.
Whether you're settling in for the night or you've woken up with a mind that won't quiet down.
Let's begin by getting comfortable.
Lie back in bed feeling the support beneath you.
Let your eyes close gently and allow your body to begin to soften.
Take a slow deep breath in and exhale fully.
Again a deep breath in and let go.
With each breath allow your body to relax a little more.
Now I'd like you to imagine a simple beautiful box beside your bed.
This is your thought box.
It's there just for you.
A safe sacred place to store anything that's on your mind.
Now imagine your thought box.
Its surface is smooth to the touch,
Adorned with delicately carved patterns as if they were etched with care just for you.
Perhaps it's made of warm wood,
Soft stone or some mysterious soothing material that only you can recognize.
It gives off a gentle glow,
Almost magical.
A soft ambient light that seems to breathe with you.
Not too bright,
Not too dim,
Just enough to evoke peace and safety.
This glow creates a tranquil atmosphere,
Like a cocoon of serenity.
The box is beautifully decorated,
Maybe with symbols,
Colors or designs that hold personal meaning for you.
It seems to have a quiet,
Comforting presence,
As if it understands how you feel.
It's here to receive your thoughts with tenderness.
No judgment,
No effort.
Each time you place a thought inside,
The box welcomes it gently and continues to glow softly,
Inviting you to let go.
You don't need to solve anything right now.
You don't need to remember it all.
You can place each thought gently into this box and return to it tomorrow,
When you're ready.
Let's begin.
If there's a thought circling in your mind,
Maybe something unfinished from today,
Something you need to remember for tomorrow,
Imagine gently taking it out of your head,
As if you're lifting it out with your hands and placing it carefully into your thought box.
You don't need to let it go forever.
You're simply putting it somewhere safe for now.
There it is,
Tucked away,
Waiting for you,
When the time is right.
Now scan your mind again.
Is there another thought asking for your attention?
A worry?
A plan?
Something on your to-do list?
Imagine reaching for it softly,
With kindness,
And placing it into the box,
Just like the others.
No rush.
Let each thought go,
One by one,
With care.
Knowing they will all be waiting for you when you need them.
This box is strong,
Secure and trustworthy.
And now,
When you're ready,
Picture yourself gently closing the lid.
Feel the quiet that follows.
The space you've created in your mind.
You don't have to carry these things through the night.
They are safe,
And so are you.
Let your breath slow down even more.
Feel the weight of your body sinking into the bed.
And trust that rest is here for you now.
You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to sleep.
Everything else can wait.
Take a final deep breath in,
And exhale slowly.
Let go,
And allow yourself to drift into sleep,
Or simply rest in this quiet space.
You are safe.
You are held.
And all is well.
