Hi,

This is Stefania.

Welcome to Wisdom Bits on Insight Timer,

Short bite-sized talks on positive thinking and self-development topics to help you live the positive lifestyle that you deserve.

Have you ever heard of a vision board?

It's like a poster with a number of different pictures and words that signify what you would like to have in your life.

It can be a goal.

It can be a career goal.

It can be some way you want to redo your home.

It can really be anything.

It can be an ideal vacation,

Your ideal relationship.

It can be your ideal job.

Anything.

What you do is go through magazines or materials that you can cut out and you place them on this board.

Then you look at it several times a day to imprint the image on your subconscious mind.

But then,

Does this really work,

You might ask?

Or is it just wishful thinking?

I believe that vision boards do work,

But they don't work by themselves.

A vision board can be a kind of motivator or a trigger to action.

When you look at your vision board,

Your mind sees images without evaluating whether you can have them or not.

And the repetition of looking at the board one to three times every day or more if you want,

Imprints these images on your mind and in your psyche.

And you can react favorably to these images on a subconscious level as something desirable and achievable.

We can imagine ourselves already having the thing or being in the place that we envision on our boards.

It's not like when we imagine it,

It's not like we're imagining a future thing.

We can imagine ourselves in the now,

Being there.

That is our now.

But the most important thing is to take action,

Not just look at the boards all the time and expect physical manifestation.

We look at our boards frequently because looking at the board stimulates our desire to physically have the thing,

Have the item,

Or do the thing.

This stimulation moves us to take action,

To think what can I do to make this come true on the physical plane.

What step can I start at this point where I am right now to make this dream real?

And as we continue to look at the board,

It keeps our desire,

So to speak,

Which spurs us on to action,

To do something about it,

Whatever we can,

Be it big or small,

Just something.

Then we take that initial action,

Then the next action in a continuous flow to achieve the dream.

Along the way we can meet people who can help us.

We can find resources,

Classes,

Etc.

Which can better prepare us to achieve the dream.

For instance,

If it's a travel vision board,

We might be inclined to take a course in the language that is spoken in the place that we want to go to,

Which spurs us on,

Encourages us to keep moving forward.

We might start thinking it takes money for this trip to happen,

So then find a way to acquire the funds to save the money.

Maybe we get a part-time job,

Maybe we sell our crafts or do some such thing.

Our mind then turns to action,

Which will support that dream.

And while we continue to look at that board three times a day,

Week after week,

Tweak it.

Tweak the images if need be.

It's not static.

Change it as you need to.

A vision board is not set in stone.

It's not immovable.

Sometimes we might want to add fresh images to keep the feeling alive,

Or we might want to change the board as our options or goals change.

That's okay to change.

The important thing is to continue to look at our boards on a regular basis and to take action as the ideas come to us.

And they will.

You can count on that.

They will.

Do vision boards,

Dream boards,

Some people call them,

Really work?

Or are they just a pretty collection of pictures?

I believe they do.

I believe they do work.

They feed our imagination.

They encourage us to dream.

And they fill us with the fire and momentum to take concrete action to make those dreams,

To bring those dreams out of theory and become something we can appreciate and enjoy in our real everyday lives.

By the way,

If you can't be bothered to cut and paste pieces of paper on a board,

Or if that's not feasible,

You can get an app for your phone or tablet which works marvelously to create your very own dream board with pictures and text.

And it's much easier to look at that three times a day perhaps than a board on a wall.

There are quite a few apps to choose from.

And the other alternative which I use is on my phone.

I have different photographs specifically in a folder,

A vision board folder.

And I play these photographs on slideshow.

So one after another I am seeing the things that I want to manifest,

That I am manifesting.

That works pretty well.

And if you have music on your phone,

You can play the music while you watch the slideshow.

Or if you have recorded some affirmations,

Play them while you watch the slideshow.

Just a little extra bit of oomph.

So there's three ways right there.

You can use physically a board with pictures pasted on it,

Which is quite good as well because you're doing the action,

Aren't you,

Of pasting each picture,

Putting a bit of love into each picture.

Or you can get an app which works quite well.

Or you can just use photographs on your phone and use the slideshow method of just looking at them over and over.

Because most times you always have your phone with you so it's easy to do it often.

So you get nothing to lose,

Eh?

Give it a go.

Try making your own dream board,

Vision board.

You can.

.

.

Oh this is another thing.

You can have more than one.

You can have one for each area of your life,

Each dream,

Each goal that you hold dear.

Just remember to follow up those visualizations with concrete,

Continuous actions.

You can do it.

So have you already tried working with a vision board and how did it go?

Or if you are inspired by this wisdom bits talk to make your own vision board and you want to,

You know,

Share how it went,

Feel free to leave a comment.

Until next time.
