Hello,
Little Star!
I am so happy that we get to spend some time together today doing something really special.
We're going to practice gratitude.
Do you know what gratitude is?
Gratitude is when you're really thankful for something or someone in your life.
So before we start practicing gratitude,
Let's get really comfortable in our mindful bodies.
So we're going to sit down and make sure that our bodies feel very relaxed.
Great!
Are you ready?
Good!
Now let your hands rest gently in your lap or by your side,
Whichever one feels comfortable to you.
And now let's take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose like you're smelling a sweet cupcake and then gently blow it out through your mouth like you're blowing out a candle.
Let's do that one more time.
Inhale,
Smelling a sweet,
Sweet scent and then blowing it out like a candle.
You're doing awesome!
Take a deep breath,
Smelling something very sweet and blow out through your mouth like a candle.
Now you can relax your eyes and if it feels safe to you,
You can even close them,
Whichever one you like.
Now hold up one hand and wriggle your fingers and we're going to touch each finger and fill it with something good,
Something that you're grateful for.
Let's start with people.
Let's touch our pinky finger.
Think of someone that you're grateful to have.
Let's touch our next finger.
Who is someone that makes you laugh?
Take a deep breath in.
Think of that person and let the breath out.
Let's touch our middle finger.
Who gives the best hugs?
Think of that person.
Take a deep breath in and let's touch our pointer finger.
Think of someone who helps you feel safe.
Are you thinking of them?
Great!
Take a deep inhale and exhale,
Blow it out.
And our last finger,
Our thumb.
Let's think of someone who teaches us really cool things and helps us learn.
Are you thinking of them?
Take a deep breath in and let it out.
Now let's use our other hand and this time,
Let's think of some things that make us smile.
Every time we touch a finger,
We're going to gently imagine that thing.
Let's start with our pinky finger.
What is something you love to eat?
Can you think about it?
Can you taste it?
Great!
Take a deep breath and something you love to play with.
Touching your next finger,
Can you think of that one?
Take a deep breath in and breathe it out.
And touching your middle finger,
What's one place you love to visit?
Got it?
Awesome!
Take a nice deep breath in.
Ah,
That felt great visiting that place in our mind.
And for our pointer finger,
Think of something you love to wear or cuddle.
Gentle,
Soft breath.
And last,
Can you think of a sound that makes you happy?
Ah,
Great!
Now take one more deep,
Cozy breath.
Now let's put our hands together,
Thumbs together,
Pointer fingers,
Middle fingers,
Ring fingers,
And our baby pinky fingers.
And hold your fingers full of thankfulness close to your heart.
Can you feel all of those great things in the palm of your hand?
And say softly to those things and those people,
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Little star,
You've just filled your whole body with gratitude.
And guess what?
Gratitude makes your heart feel warm.
It makes your mind feel calm and your body super strong.
Are you smiling?
Do you feel happy?
Great!
Because being grateful and thankful also brings a smile to your heart.
When you're ready,
You can take a big stretch.
And if you want to,
You can give yourself a hug.
Or you can even find one of those people you're grateful for and hug them too.
You are so wonderful.
And gratitude just made your day even brighter.
Until next time,
Little friend.
