Hello,
My name is Gabriella and today we will be doing a short meditation involving mantra.
Now I have been working with mantra in many different forms for approximately five years and I've found it to be both a powerful form of meditation to ground myself in the body but also to attune myself to an intention.
If you haven't worked with mantra before,
In essence it often leads to saying a mantra,
A Sanskrit phrase that is attuned to a particular god or goddess for an area in life that we would like to nurture or develop.
Today's mantra we will be working with the goddess Kuan Yin who is known as a divine feminine archetype of compassion and love.
When we work with mantra in the traditional ways we work using the number 108 so we chant this mantra 108 times.
108 divides into nine and nine is the sacred number in numerology and in the Vedic practices.
This mantra or any mantra is best practiced in a series of consecutive days for the most benefit.
So why not try this mantra for nine days,
27 days or 44 days.
I find it works best when we practice for longer periods of time.
As it's the start of the new year it's an excellent time to adopt practices that help bring and build positive habits and I find my daily mantra practice is a great tool for building habits,
Setting discipline and reminding myself that I can do anything with work and focus.
In my hand I have what is known as a mala bead and this bead is a sequence of seeds and this helps me keep the count.
You can find one online or you may have one in your collection.
If you don't have it don't worry because you can follow along with my voice and either recite the mantra out loud or silently to yourself.
The mantra for Kuan Yin is known as Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
I'll repeat that again two times before we begin.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
This mantra is in reference to the jewel in the lotus giving a sense that the heart within our whole being is the direction to follow,
Is the force that guides us.
I'm going to now recite this mantra 108 times and you can follow me.
Inhale to begin.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Om Ma Ni Padme Hum.
Just allowing the vibration of the mantra to move through you for a moment.
Taking a big inhale through the nose and exhale out the mouth.
Closing with one Namaste,
Hands together in prayer at your chest.
I find this practice is really beneficial when done first thing in the morning upon rising.
It's like setting an intention or stating an affirmation for each day.
Why not give this a try for a sequence of days and let me know how you get on.
I am Gabriella,
Thank you for stopping by,
Wishing you a wonderful year.
