Welcome to 5, 5, 5: For folx who say they don’t have time to meditate. What does 5, 5, 5 stand for? 5 minutes of Affirmative Reading, 5 minutes of Affirmative Writing/Journaling, 5 minutes of meditation. I am Shelley Nicole. I’m a yoga teacher, Reiki Master & crystal energy healer. I was introduced to this technique by my pastors at Celebration Spiritual Center. After trying it for myself I thought it would be great to share and co-facilitate this practice with others. Enjoy! Namaste.

Welcome to volume 2 of 555.

I am Shelly Nicole.

I am a Reiki Master,

Yoga teacher,

Crystal energy healer,

Vocalist,

And songwriter.

If this is your first time listening,

555 stands for 5 minutes of affirmative reading,

5 minutes of journaling,

And 5 minutes of meditation.

The readings will usually be less than 5 minutes,

But we will take the full time to journal and sit in meditation.

Be sure to have your journal nearby as we move through this journey.

We are reading today from Acts of Faith,

October 25th.

The future rewards those who press on.

Barack Obama.

So many times in life we allow fear to stop us in our tracks.

The sad thing is,

We don't always recognize we are afraid.

We find excuses and rationalizations.

We create responsibilities,

True and false,

We must tend to before we can move forward.

We create challenges and obstacles so real in our minds that they manifest in our lives.

Behind it all is fear.

Fear we are not good enough,

Fear we won't be liked,

Fear that if we do it once,

Someone will ask us to do it again and we won't be able to.

What are our excuses?

Who or what is stopping us?

How many times do we talk ourselves out of what we say we really want?

What are we afraid of?

Affirmation.

I put desire above fear every day.

I put desire above fear every day.

Reflection.

What is your deepest hidden fear?

How is it holding you back?

What is your deepest hidden fear?

How is it holding you back?

And we'll take five minutes to reflect on that question and write down what is your deepest hidden fear and what is exactly holding you back.

And it might be a couple of things.

It might be more than one deep hidden fear.

So take your time in these five minutes and really reflect.

And maybe you don't have to write them all if you feel like there's a few.

But just take your time.

Maybe focus on one,

Maybe two.

And again,

What is that deep hidden fear and what is holding you back?

You.

You.

You.

You.

You.

You.

You.

You.

You.

You.

You.

Start to bring your writing to a close.

If you have more that you would like to release on the page,

Feel free to return to your journal after the silent meditation.

So just take your time as you close your journal,

Finding yourself a comfortable seat.

You can sit in a chair,

You can sit on a cushion on the floor,

On your couch,

Even in your bed,

Wherever you are today.

Just take your time.

Settle yourself in.

Sitting up nice and tall.

Really feel the elongation in the spine.

Really seeing any tension you might have in the forehead.

Relax the eyes.

Relax the cheeks.

Really feeling the shoulders relax,

Feeling your seat connecting to the earth.

And just starting to focus on your breath.

And just noticing where you're feeling the breath in this moment.

You might be feeling it in your belly or in your back.

Maybe at the side ribs.

You might be feeling it in the chest.

Maybe at the shoulders or tip of the nose or top of the lip.

But wherever you're feeling the breath in this moment just taking this time to notice the breath.

Noticing where you're feeling that rise and fall of the breath.

And as we move into our silent time.

Just remember as you're sitting in silence if you feel your mind wandering away,

Wandering into the things you might have to do for the day.

Just bring yourself back to the breath.

Bring yourself back to that rise and fall.

So again we'll take five minutes here in silence,

Being with the breath again noticing that rise and fall.
