Resentment.
Some say it is like drinking our own poison.
Our anger and rage.
A tricky way of thinking we're protecting ourselves somehow from someone or something else.
Don't we have a right to be furious,
Critical,
Judgmental?
After all,
Haven't we been hurt in some way?
It takes a lot of courage to surrender resentment.
To move deep beneath the surface of anger.
To find grief,
Sadness,
And pain.
And in this short practice,
You step into your courage.
You perform the experiment and let go.
Let go of giving someone or something your energy,
Your power,
And your time.
And you trust in divinity.
You trust that a power greater than you will sort it out.
And that you can stay in a place of love,
Kindness,
And reverence for yourself and for others.
So whoever or whatever you are angry at,
I want you to imagine they're standing right in front of you.
And I want you to see the way your energy cords are tied to them.
Are they wrapped around their shoulders or body?
Are they shoved deep into the situation?
Notice the way you desire it or them to be completely different than they are.
And then ask yourself,
With compassion and curiosity,
What is the payoff?
What does my ego receive if I stay in anger?
But more importantly,
What does my soul receive if I stay in anger?
When we are in a place of deep resentment,
We are not in our heart.
We are in ego.
In this defensive place to stand up for ourselves,
To obsess and ruminate,
To feel the slower vibration of anger and resentment.
Your soul has no time for that today.
Now see once again this person,
Thing,
That you are resentful towards.
Take a deep breath in and pull all of your energy cords back into your body.
Use the energy of your heart that deeply loves,
That knows compassion and grace.
Then you do this for yourself so that you can take all of that energy that otherwise would be wasted and be creative or focus on the love you have for someone else or the gratitude you have for all that is well.
Let that person,
Place or thing,
Go.
And if you find yourself being drawn back,
If you find your cord trying to make its way back,
Tell your ego not today.
We have found the courage to let go.
