Every possession we claim begins with the phrase my or mine.
My house,
My job,
My body,
My relationships.
Yet what if this language itself creates an illusion?
When we examine closely,
We discover that everything is temporary,
Passing through our care for a brief moment in cosmic time.
This revelation doesn't diminish our responsibility,
Rather it transforms it into something more profound,
Sacred stewardship without the burden of ownership.
This shift in perspective doesn't reduce our engagement with life,
It deepens it,
Infusing each moment with gratitude and purpose.
Let's explore this shift in perspective through a meditation on what it means to be a steward,
A custodian,
A trustee rather than an owner.
Allow yourself to breathe naturally while releasing all that no longer serves you.
In this moment,
Silently whisper these words into the depths of your soul.
I am a steward,
A trustee,
I'm not the owner.
Visualize yourself now holding all that you hold dear in the cradle of your open palms.
Your body,
Your relationships,
Your possessions,
And your talents and abilities rest softly in your hands.
Take a moment now and give thanks to all that you hold in your palms.
They have been gifted to you.
With each breath,
Affirm everything bestowed upon me is on loan from the divine source.
I'm entrusted with their care,
Yet I remain free from entanglement.
I handle them with love,
Yet I can release them with grace.
Now imagine those open palms extending outward to serve others.
Feel the lightness that envelops your being as you share the abundance entrusted to you.
Embrace the joy of becoming a channel through which the divine flows freely.
Rather than a mere container clutching on to what cannot truly be held.
Carry this awareness throughout your day,
Dear steward,
And remember these words as your guiding light.
I am a guardian of all that has been graciously given to me.
Aum Shanti I am peace.
