We are blessed to have many choices.
The negative side is the anxiety it can create.
Did I make the right choice?
Maybe I should have chosen something else.
One way or another,
Life is based on choices,
And we can't choose everything.
There is simply not enough time or energy.
In the past,
I found myself wanting to focus on multiple projects at once,
And this never really worked.
All projects would be left half done,
Incomplete.
My mistakes taught me the value of focused attention.
I am still experimenting and learning,
And there is a long way to go.
Imagine a small bottle of water and 100 empty cups.
Now imagine a small bottle of water and 100 empty cups.
Now imagine having to divide the water into all the cups.
None of them will fill up.
Even if you focus on 50 cups,
30,
20 or 10,
They would still not be filled.
The water represents our life force,
The daily energy we are granted.
The cups,
In this case,
Represent the projects.
Choosing one project allows us to focus all of our energy on it.
Maybe it won't be a success,
But we give ourselves the best chance to see it grow into what it might become.
And that is the only power we have.
It does not only relate to projects.
The same happens in relationships.
When we focus on too many,
We never have the time or energy to cultivate meaningful ones.
Hobbies and skills,
Too many and we never become truly good at any.
When our energy is scattered,
Nothing is accomplished.
Focusing on less allows us to use our energy wisely.
Maybe it is not about adding on more,
But asking ourselves,
What is essential at this moment?
