This Bible lesson comes from Genesis 3:6, where we will explore humanity's fall and how God responds. We often get down on ourselves about our poor decisions and wonder where we go from here with our faith. This lesson is meant to encourage and remind us all about God's love and grace. Welcome to today's message.

Today we'll take a closer look at the story of Eve in the Garden of Eden.

A story of temptation,

Choices,

And ultimately God's grace.

Our scripture reading comes from Genesis 3,

6.

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye and also desirable for gaining wisdom,

She took some and ate it.

She also gave some to her husband who was with her,

And he ate.

In this verse,

We see Eve faced with a choice,

Like so many of us.

God had given Adam and Eve everything they needed and had clearly told them not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

But the serpent's words made her question God's command and focus on what she felt she was missing.

Eve's choice wasn't just about a piece of fruit.

It was a decision to trust her own desires over God's instructions.

She saw something that looked good that appealed to her senses,

And that seemed to offer wisdom.

But it led to disobedience and ultimately separation from God.

How often do we find ourselves in similar situations?

I know I do.

And we may not be looking at a forbidden tree,

But we face choices every day that challenge us to either trust God's guidance or go on our own.

Temptation often presents itself as something good or desirable.

It can make us question if God's way is really the best.

And when we're tempted,

We can ask ourselves,

Am I trusting God fully or am I letting my own desires lead me?

That's a question for us all today.

But here's a word of encouragement.

The story doesn't end there.

And that's the beauty of God's grace.

Though Adam and Eve faced the consequences of their actions,

God provided for them even as they left the garden.

Remember,

He clothed them and His love remained.

When we make mistakes or fall into temptation,

God doesn't abandon us,

Praise God.

Instead,

He calls us back,

Offering forgiveness and a chance to start over.

So if you're feeling weighed down by a poor choice or a temptation that you gave into,

Remember that God's grace is greater.

He invites us to repent,

To learn,

And to rely on His strength rather than our own.

The story of Eden may begin with a fall,

But glory be to God,

Our lives don't have to end there.

So take a moment to pause here for a moment of reflection.

Think about an area in your life where you're struggling to trust God's guidance.

Ask Him to help you rely on His strength rather than your own understanding.

Now let's close out with a word of prayer.

Lord,

Thank you for loving us even when we fall short.

Help us to recognize temptations for what they are and give us strength to choose your ways over our own desires.

Thank you for your forgiveness and thank you for your grace that gives us hope and new hope.

Thank you for your grace that gives us hope and new beginnings.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
