Welcome,
Beloved.
I'm so glad you're here.
If you've come to this moment with a mind that won't stop spinning,
Or thoughts racing from one worry to the next,
Or maybe you've come with a to-do list that feels endless,
Then dear friend,
You're in the right place.
God sees you.
He knows the weight you're carrying in your mind right now,
And he is inviting you into his rest.
So join me,
And let's take the next 10 minutes together to calm your busy mind.
Find a comfortable seated or lying down position.
If you feel comfortable and safe,
Close your eyes or soften your gaze and breathe deeply as you prepare to enter into the presence of God,
Meeting him heart to heart,
Spirit to spirit,
Breath to breath.
Dear friend,
Listen to these words recorded in Psalm 46 verse 10.
Be still and know that I am God.
Be still.
Your mind may be busy,
But God isn't hurried.
Your thoughts may be racing,
But God is not worried.
He is sovereign.
He is steady,
And he simply invites you to be still.
In this moment,
You don't have to solve anything.
You don't have to begin by noticing your breath.
You don't have to change it.
Just notice it.
Breathe in slowly and breathe out.
As you breathe in,
Imagine breathing in God's peace,
His presence filling your lungs,
Your chest,
Your entire being.
As you breathe out,
Release the mental clutter from your mind,
The racing thoughts,
The endless list of things to do.
Breathe in God's peace.
Breathe out the noise.
Breathe in God's peace.
Breathe out the noise.
Allow your body to find this rhythm of breathing in God's peace and breathing out the noise.
Your breath is a gift.
Each inhale is God giving you life,
And each exhale is an opportunity to let it all go.
Continue breathing at your own pace,
And with each breath,
Feel your mind beginning to slow down.
Now begin to bring gentle awareness to your body.
This body that God fearfully and wonderfully made.
Notice your shoulders.
Are they carrying tension?
Allow them to drop down and soften.
Notice your jaw.
Slowly unclench it,
And allow the muscles in your face to relax.
Notice your hands.
Go ahead and release any tightness.
Let them rest open,
Maybe with palms up as a sign of receiving God's peace.
As you breathe,
Allow yourself to relax.
Relax.
Your body doesn't have to be on right now.
It's okay to rest.
You are safe in this moment.
You are held.
You are loved.
God is holding you right now.
Now,
I want you to imagine your busy mind like a snow globe that has been shaken.
Thoughts swirling everywhere,
Making it hard to see.
But watch what happens when the snow globe is settled down and held still.
Slowly and gently,
The thoughts begin to settle.
No,
They don't disappear.
They're still there.
But they're no longer swirling.
They're settled to the bottom.
And suddenly,
There's clarity.
There's space.
There's peace.
This is what God does when we come to him with our busy minds.
He doesn't make our thoughts vanish,
But he helps them to settle.
Dear friend,
He creates space.
So right now,
Picture those racing thoughts,
All those worries,
Tasks,
And decisions.
Imagine them gently settling in God's presence.
You don't have to grab at them.
You don't have to engage with them.
Just let them be and let God handle it.
Now,
Let's center our minds and hearts on this truth.
Be still that I am God.
As you sit in this quiet space,
Remember God is God and we are not.
You don't have to carry it all.
You don't have to control it all.
You can rest in him.
Now,
Let's speak these words together out loud or in your heart.
Lord,
I release my busy mind to you.
I cannot do this alone and I was never meant to.
You are God.
You are in control.
What I cannot hold,
You hold perfectly.
What I cannot figure out,
You already know.
I choose to trust you with all of my thoughts and my worries.
In this moment,
I am still and I know that you are God.
