In this practice, you will be lead into a place surrounded by compassion and peace. In this gentle meditation, you will be invited to imagine writing a letter of gratitude to a person, place or situation you are having difficulty with. In finding the compassion and kindness in these difficult spaces we learn to be both kinder to ourselves as well as those around us. In this space of gratitude, we can heal in a transformative way.

Taking a deep breath in,

Allow the breath to fill your lungs,

Your body,

And on the exhale as your breath moves gently out close your eyes.

You can feel the energy of your breath move through your body,

Down your spine,

Your legs,

And out the bottom of your feet.

You begin to see a beautiful pink light glowing next to you.

It starts as just a small orb of light and with each gentle breath that you take the light grows brighter and the orb gets bigger until it completely surrounds you.

Now imagine that you were sitting at a beautiful wood desk.

You reach out and take a piece of paper and a pen.

You notice that you have been struggling with a particular person,

Circumstance,

Or situation.

This image gently rises as a picture in your mind.

It does not cause stress or pain in this moment and only gives you an image.

You begin to write a letter to this person or this circumstance.

In this letter you write the things down that you appreciate and find compassion for in this person or this situation.

You list just a few things that you see as a blessing even though it is difficult.

With each compassionate sentence that you write in your letter you feel the pink light that has been surrounding you fill you with a gentle sense of peace.

Each word of kindness written even in a difficult space each kind thought moves from the page to you to this person or a situation and tell all of you are surrounded by this light and held in this loving place.

As you and this person sit together in this place of love you hear these words spoken.

Intellect and love are made of different materials he said.

Intellect ties people in knots and risks nothing but love love dissolves all tangles and risks everything.

Intellect does not easily break down whereas love effortlessly reduces itself to rubble but treasures are hidden among ruins and a broken heart hides treasures.

I ask in this prayerful place that we each of us and in all of our lives be surrounded by loving grace and compassionate kindness.

Take a deep breath in and exhale as you are ready.

May you continue to be guided on your journey and may you always know that you are supported.
