Hi,
My name is Michelle Morrison and thank you for joining me for this meditation about patience.
So find a comfortable position either lying down or seated.
Let your body be supported.
And gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Take a slow breath in through your nose.
And a long,
Easy breath out.
Again,
Inhale.
And exhale.
Allowing the breath to settle into its natural rhythm.
No need to control it,
Just let it flow.
Begin to notice the simple sensation of breathing.
The rise and fall.
Gentle movement within your body.
And let yourself arrive here.
As you settle,
Bring to mind this reflection.
Patience lies in the middle of passivity and uncontrolled anger.
Not giving up.
Not foreseen.
Just being here let that idea gently land.
There is a middle way available to you.
Bring your awareness to your body.
And notice any areas or tension or holding.
Perhaps the jaw.
The shoulders.
Of the belly.
With every exhale,
Invite a softening.
You don't need to rush.
Patience is not about getting somewhere else.
It's about staying present with the now.
Begin to follow the breath more closely.
Feel the inhale as it enters.
And the exhale as it leaves.
If your mind wanders,
That's okay.
Gently guide it back Each return is an act of patience.
Silently repeat to yourself The patient lies in the middle of passivity and uncontrolled anger.
At the movement of your breath.
Let the words soak into the body.
With every inhale.
And exhale.
Rest in that balance between the inhale and the exhale.
As you continue breathing reflect on this.
Patience is the strength to stay present.
Not a weakness,
Not hesitation,
A quiet strength.
Feel that strength in your body.
Strength and steadiness,
Grounded in calm.
Sensations arise.
If there's restlessness,
Discomfort or emotion.
See if you can meet them with curiosity rather than reaction.
No need to push them away,
No need to cling,
Just notice.
Bring to mind the energy of Ganesha the remover of obstacles,
And the one who places them there.
Consider this gently.
The obstacle is the path.
What appears in your way may be guiding you forward.
And silently repeat Be patient with how the path reveals itself.
Be patient with your journey on that path.
As you breathe.
Let these words settle into you.
As you inhale.
And exhale.
Mind becomes busy,
Come back again.
This is the practice.
The practice of returning to the present.
Feel into any edges,
Any urges,
The urge to withdraw,
The urge to react.
And sense the space in between them.
Rest there in the space between the inhales.
And the exhale.
Patience is a strength to stay present.
Staying with the breath.
Staying with the body.
Staying with this moment.
Imagine your breath as an anchor.
Each inhale grounding you.
Each exhale softening you.
There is nothing you need to fix.
Nothing to rush.
If thoughts arise about the future,
Gently remind yourself.
Be patient with how the path reveals itself.
You do not need to see the whole journey.
Just a step.
Just this breath.
Rest here for a few moments now in silence.
Breathing.
Softening and allowing.
Now begin to deepen your breath slightly.
Feel your body again.
The weight of it supported against the earth Gently bring awareness back to the room.
Wiggle your fingers,
Maybe your toes.
Take one final slow breath in.
And exhale fully Before you open your eyes,
Reflect once more.
Patience is the strength.
To stay present.
Carry this with you.
And remember.
With each obstacle.
Path is revealing itself.
Patient with it.
Be patient with yourself.
And when you're ready.
Gently open your eyes.
