Day Eighteen of Lent. This meditation is a simple breath-work exercise. During this meditation, and for the third & fourth weeks of this series we meditate upon the Call to Endurance. Where do we draw strength from, when we feel weak? How can we learn to have grace for ourselves in those moments? Let this meditation take you deeper in communion with God. And let this series be an edifying part of your Lent practice.

Hello my fellow hearkeners,

Today marks our 18th meditation of Lent.

Around this time,

It may start getting really difficult to continue with the fast.

You may be tired from all the self discipline you've been practicing,

Or maybe you've gotten into a groove at this point.

At any rate,

You're doing a great job.

Let's begin this meditation with a gentle invitation to close your eyes.

Notice again how your mind naturally seems to quiet when you close your eyes and you organically become still.

Hearkening back to an earlier meditation with a reminder that you are good,

You are a child of the source of goodness.

With that reminder,

Let's take a long,

Slow,

Deep breath in,

Breathing in calm and relaxation.

Hold it there for a moment and then slowly let it out.

Pause and repeat.

Feel yourself relaxing ever more with each breath in,

And releasing with each breath out.

Now,

As we inhale,

Let's breathe in gratitude,

Hold and letting go on the exhale.

Breathing in,

Breathing out.

Breathing in calm,

Breathing out release.

Breathing in peace and surrender on the exhale.

Relaxation on the inhale and feeling a sense of liberation on the exhale.

Gratitude on the in-breath and release on the out-breath.

Again,

Breathing in gratitude,

Breathing out release.

I invite you to do a few cycles,

As many as you need or would like or feel called to.

Breathing in calm,

Peace,

Relaxation,

And gratitude on the out-breath.

Release,

Surrender,

Liberation,

And letting go.

Thank you,

My fellow Hearkeners.

Remember,

This exercise can be used at any time,

Whenever you need it.

May grace and peace,

Light and love be with you.

This was an awesome "reset" meditation with the accompanying breathing exercises. It really helped to bring me back to being grounded in the intentions for my Lenten practices and being at peace with the journey so far.

Fabulous. I loved his voice and the rain in the bathrooms I will definitely return to this meditation again and again. Short and sweet and gets the job done.
