Hello my friends,

Today's meditation is a very simple exercise of breathing the name Yahweh.

To begin,

I invite you to get comfortable and relax your body.

Relax your mind and slow your spirit,

Close your eyes if it is safe and helpful to do so.

In other words,

Be still.

If you have a distracting thought,

Simply see it and let it go without judgment or admonishment.

Remember,

There is no wrong way to meditate,

So just be present in this moment.

Adopt an attitude of gratitude for this moment and a posture of non-judgment.

And of course,

Embrace a spirit of peace and loving kindness.

Now that you are still,

Present,

And at peace,

We can begin our breathing exercise.

Let's begin by breathing in the syllable,

Yah.

And then breathe out the syllable,

Way.

If it's easier,

You can just think the syllables while practicing this breathing exercise.

Breathe in yah.

Breathe out way.

Breathe in yah.

Breathe out way.

Breathe in yah.

Breathe out way.

As you continue to observe this breathing pattern,

I'm just going to give a short backstory on this meditation.

Yahweh is one of the many names of God in the long and storied antiquity of the Jewish and Christian traditions.

The ancient Hebrews believed that the true name of God could never fully be spoken or understood,

And as a result,

This name was rarely,

If ever,

Uttered aloud or even written down in full.

That being said,

We cannot be 100% positive on how to pronounce the name.

It has gone through many interpretations over the years and centuries,

Including Jehovah,

Yehovah,

And Jah.

The closest to an accurate representation,

However,

Is presently believed to be Yahweh.

Let's return to focusing solely on breathing the name.

Breathe in yah.

Breathe out way.

Breathe in yah.

Breathe out way.

Breathe in yah.

Breathe out way.

Continuing to focus on the breathing exercise.

Some rabbis teach that the name Yahweh is to reflect the sound of breathing.

Yahweh.

Thus the name is both the name that can never be spoken and the name that can never not be spoken.

Yahweh.

We are born with the name on our lips.

Yahweh.

We live our lives with the name ever in our lungs and in the air around us.

Yahweh.

It is our very breath.

Yahweh.

The breath of life.

Yahweh.

And with our very last breath on this earth,

We will proclaim the name.

Yahweh.

We.

Breathe in yah.

Breathe out way.

Breathe in yah.

Breathe out way.

Breathe in yah.

Breathe out way.

Breathe in yah.

Thank you for meditating with me today my dear friends.
