Sound Bath Sessions 238: Pergee Lam
Our second session was in her friend's studio nearby. It was larger and quiet but still had some interesting sporadic construction and traffic sounds from down the street. During the recording you can hear a faint sound of a jazz band practicing somewhere in the building. She laid her bowls out in a circle around her really fills up the left-to-right stereo image. After she strikes the bowls, she bends way down as if to dip her head in the sound of the bowls after she strikes them. Her tempo is slow and made up of short phrases before pausing to reflect. Abstract. Gentle. I feel a connection with her style of playing, as I feel I share similar interests in sound. I love the finale of this session. She repeated the same two notes until the end. Left, right, left, right. Powerful.
