Sound Bath Sessions 098: Aki Tsukui
Aki Tsukui was my first stop in Singapore. We recorded at Counseling Perspective in Queenstown. Aki left Japan a long time ago but remembers her grandmother playing two small metal bowls every morning and night until a few years before she passed away at age 106. This memory of the bowls was buried for many years until a sound bath she attended in Singapore let it surface again. “I felt very nostalgic, I felt very calm, and I also felt very excited… I need to do this, I need to get back to my roots.” The theme for our this recording was ‘Sunday vibe’, which was meant to be relaxing, grounding, and to get you ready to start a new week. I felt each sharp strike of the metal bowls chase away my thoughts and direct my focus to each tone until they had my undivided attention. The session ended on a refreshing note as I could feel myself breathing deeper than when I started.
