Let's find a quiet area where we can sit and meditate and prepare our minds for the exam that is coming up.
This meditation will help you mentally prepare,
Lower your anxiety,
And increase your confidence.
I recommend you do this meditation leading up as well as the day of.
Let's begin by finding a seated position.
That could be cross-legged on the floor,
Or sitting in a chair with the feet on the floor,
Or even in a lying down position.
Once you've found your spot,
Let's close our eyes and settle in for a moment.
Begin becoming aware of your breath,
Not changing it or altering it,
Just becoming aware of it.
Let's begin slowing down the inhale and the exhale,
Allowing it to lengthen just slightly.
Let's briefly scan the body and note any areas of tension and allow those to release.
You may scan from top to bottom or the other direction,
Whichever works best for you,
And just release any areas of tension,
Particularly noting the shoulders or any tension in the hips,
Legs.
Now let's settle into this specific meditation.
Maybe you're feeling a little anxious about an upcoming test or exam.
Maybe it's this one in particular,
Or maybe it's a typical response for you.
Whatever that may be,
Let's brew confidence in this meditation.
Let's begin by getting a picture in our mind of where we're taking the test regarding most likely a classroom setting.
Bring yourself to the classroom.
Familiarize yourself with the room for a moment.
See the smiling faces of your teacher or professor and your peers,
Feeling that warm hospitality.
Once we have that picture locked in,
We're going to back up our day for a moment.
We have the picture of us arriving at the test,
But let's back up the imagery work for a moment.
Begin by picturing the start of your day,
Waking up well-rested,
Feeling good,
Feeling confident,
Feeling affirmed in the knowledge that you studied,
Knowing that you have prepared and done all within your powers to be successful.
Picture yourself going through your morning routine,
Hygiene,
Preparing a nice,
Healthy,
Balanced breakfast,
A breakfast that feels good to the body,
Brings the body's satiation and concentration to the mind.
Picturing yourself dressed for the day,
Leaving your home.
Picturing yourself arriving or proceeding to the test in whatever mode you typically utilize.
Maybe it's driving,
Maybe it's walking,
Maybe it's a bus.
Imagining your ride or drive there,
The weather's beautiful,
The traffic flow goes well.
It's truly a lovely day.
Imagining yourself arriving at the exam site,
Whatever that may be for you.
Maybe this is a driver's test,
Maybe it's a college exam,
Maybe it's boards for some sort of license or higher degree.
You arrive at your destination safely and securely,
And you're walking into the building,
And again,
You are pulling the feelings and bringing them to the surface that you feel prepared and you feel confident.
Taking a nice,
Slow breath in through the nose,
Hold,
And out through the mouth.
You walk in the room,
You're handed your exam or sat at your computer,
And you sit down and you take a look around briefly,
And you pause for a moment and think to yourself,
I'm feeling good,
I'm feeling rested,
And I'm feeling prepared.
I did everything in my power to prepare for this exam.
Picture yourself in front of the questions.
See them on the paper.
Imagine yourself responding to them,
Knowing the answers,
Containing the knowledge within you.
You studied,
You prepared,
And you're able to retrieve the information when needed.
You're going through your exam at a steady pace.
You allow yourself a little bit of time to look back over it,
Not second-guessing yourself,
But just a quick check that you responded to everything.
And you picture yourself turning it in.
Now I'd like you to take another deep breath in through the nose.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Holding it,
Slowly releasing it on your own count.
Now I want you to picture that exam or boards or whatever it may be coming back to you with success.
You passed.
You aced it,
Whatever the measurement is for this test.
You did it.
You prepared,
You were confident in yourself,
And it paid off.
You feel lighter,
Proud.
You were able to not only successfully complete your exam,
But you were able to do it with minimal anxiety,
Because you not only prepared for the knowledge and information,
But you prepared your mind and your emotions.
What a wonderful feeling.
Allow yourself to bask in it for a moment.
Now we're going to take in a breath of air,
And when we exhale,
We're going to sigh with it.
Inhale.
And when you exhale,
Sigh.
If you want to hold on to that feeling for another moment,
Feel free.
You are welcome to stay and relish in it,
Or you can begin waking up your body by moving your fingers and your toes,
Gently shaking your legs back and forth,
Slight movements to the arms,
Kind of windshield wiping the arms and the legs,
And just small,
Moderate movements,
And then slowly open your eyes and bring yourself back to your room,
Wherever you may be.
Thank you so much,
And I know you'll do great.
