I invite you to find your restful bed.
Take your time to plump the pillows and nestle in,
Feeling warm and supported.
Take your time,
And whenever you feel ready you may close your eyes and allow your body to settle into softness beneath you,
The gentle weight of your body being supported.
Here we may take a few deeper breaths,
And each time we exhale and let go,
We are letting go of a little more of our day,
Let go of busy thoughts,
Let go of any tensions,
Let go of worries.
This is your time to rest,
To recharge,
To dream,
And to nurture hope for the day that will arrive tomorrow morning,
But tomorrow is still far away.
Let us take time now to let the breath continue to be our rhythm of release.
With each exhale,
Imagine tension or tightness leaving your body.
With each breath,
You're sinking deeper and deeper into relaxation,
Floating gently into the quiet peace of the present moment.
Feel your legs and your feet relax,
Your hips and tummy and chest soft and calm,
Your arms,
Elbows,
Wrists and hands,
Settle,
Calm,
Supported,
And the little muscles around your neck and jaw,
Around your face,
As the whole body sinks into softness.
Any final tensions of the body falling away,
So all that is left is that gentle rhythm of the breath,
The rise and fall,
Steady and calm.
Each breath is a wave washing over you,
Carrying away the day that you have journeyed through,
A peaceful stillness on gentle waves,
And as we drift here on the edge of dreaming,
We may take a moment to bring to mind a simple moment of joy from your day.
It may have been a moment of sunshine,
A kind word,
A little adventure,
A delicious supper,
Or even just in this moment,
The comfort of the bed around us.
Let this gentle ember of joy and gratitude spread through your body in warmth and contentment.
And within this warmth,
This gentle ember,
Imagine at its centre a little area that is blank,
Waiting for you to plant a seed at its centre.
You're planting within this ember of life a seed of hope for tomorrow.
This seed or seeds might be dreams,
Intentions,
Quiet wishes.
See them planted within that light of joy and gratitude,
Where they will be held safely,
Nourished by your sleep.
Those seeds will begin to bloom by the time morning shines around.
You may not know what tomorrow will bring,
