
Atman Yoga Nidra For Sleep & Relaxation

'Atman' means our inner self, our soul. In this specific kind of Yoga Nidra, Saqib will guide you through a relaxing journey during which you will connect to your infinite self, your Atman. Although Yoga Nidra is for conscious deep sleep, this particular meditation is also very beneficial for those seeking good quality sleep, instant sleep, and deep relaxation of the mind and the body. Atman means the soul and in this specific type of yoga nidra we will connect with the atman so that our own soul can provide us deep rest and relaxation.
I welcome you to this meditation.
I am your guide Saqib and I will guide you through a process which will make you connect to the Atman.
It is a three stage process proposed by Dr.
Joe Dispenza in his book,
Becoming Supernatural.
The Atman,
Your soul,
Is an infinite being in infinite space and infinite time.
To connect to the Atman,
In the first stage we will identify ourselves as someone living somewhere at some time.
In the second stage we will drop our ego and become no one,
Nowhere,
At no time.
And finally in the third stage we will transcend to become that infinite being.
That is,
Everyone,
Everywhere,
At every time.
As your soul partner,
I want to tell you that I love you.
I believe that we all are one and through this meditation we will combine our energies to get into those deeper states of relaxation.
So without further ado,
Let's get started with the meditation.
We will start with the first stage of the meditation.
Someone,
Somewhere,
At some time.
Hence we will first place our awareness on our body.
I would now request you to lie down.
Just make sure that your back is not bent but is relaxed at the same time.
Keep your eyes open for now.
I will prompt you to close them soon.
Check if you can shift your body into a slightly more relaxed posture.
Now just be aware of your external surroundings.
Notice the space that you are in.
Feel the weight of your body.
Feel the air on your skin.
Feel the smell in the air.
And listen to the sounds around you.
Notice what is there in your line of sight.
Is it the roof or a wall?
Even the entire roof or wall or whatever is there in your line of sight.
If it is too dark and you can't see anything,
Just gaze into the darkness.
And now bring your focus to a single point on the roof,
The wall or any single point in the darkness in the line of your sight.
And just gaze at this point for some time.
Let your gaze be a soft case.
Restrain your eyes.
Now gradually close your eyes.
Let's together set our sankalpa or intention for having quality sleep.
I will say the words of sankalpa and either you can repeat after me in your heart or just listen to my words.
It's up to you.
I give deep rest and relaxation to my mind and my body.
I give deep rest and relaxation to my mind and my body.
I give deep rest and relaxation to my mind and my body.
And now let's take a few deep relaxing breaths.
And as you inhale and exhale,
Let your awareness follow the flow of your breath in through your nose,
Through your windpipe,
Into your lungs and back from your lungs to your windpipe and out through your nose again.
Now take at least three more complete breaths.
And now let's take a few deep relaxing breaths.
And as you inhale and exhale,
Let your awareness follow the flow of your breath in through your nose again.
To identify ourselves as someone,
Somewhere and at some time,
We will become aware of our body.
So let's scan our body from top to bottom and relax each and every part of it.
Now place your awareness on your head.
And feel your head relaxing.
Place your awareness on your face.
And feel your face relaxing.
Place your awareness on your neck.
And feel your neck relaxing.
Next place your awareness on your shoulders.
And feel your shoulders relaxing.
Place your awareness on your chest.
And feel your chest relaxing.
Place your awareness on your arms and hands.
And feel your arms and hands relaxing.
Now place your awareness on your back.
And feel your back relaxing.
Place your awareness on your abdomen.
And feel your abdomen relaxing.
Now place your awareness on your pelvis.
And feel your pelvis relaxing.
Place your awareness on your thighs.
And feel your thighs relaxing.
Now place your awareness on your knees and calves.
And feel your knees and calves relaxing.
And finally place your awareness on your feet.
And feel your feet relaxing.
And now let's be thankful to the Atman for providing us with deep rest and relaxation.
I will say the words of Kritagya or gratitude and you can repeat after me silently in your heart.
I thank you universe for providing me with deep rest and relaxation.
I thank you universe for providing me with deep rest and relaxation.
I thank you universe for providing me with deep rest and relaxation.
And now we will enter the second stage of meditation.
No one,
Nowhere,
At no time.
And now bring your awareness to your entire body at once as if you are watching your own body from outside.
Now ask yourself who is watching the body?
If you can watch your body then are you yourself only the body?
If the body is the object then who is the observer?
Now check if there are any thoughts in your mind right now.
In each thought has bubbles like soap bubbles floating in front of you with each thought representing one bubble.
Now ask yourself who is watching the thoughts?
If the thoughts are the object then who is the observer?
In your imagination pop these bubbles of thoughts one by one with a slight touch of your finger.
Just in your imagination.
You are now ready to drop your association with the body,
The thoughts and the world around you.
You are no one.
You are nowhere.
You are at no time.
You are now entering stage 3 of the meditation,
Everyone,
Everywhere,
At every time.
Imagine and feel your body surrounded by a ball of white light.
This ball of light surrounding your body represents your soul.
Now imagine this ball of light expanding and covering your entire room.
Now make this ball of white light expand further and let it cover your entire area.
Expand this ball further and let it cover your entire city or town.
Let this ball expand now and let it cover your entire state.
Expand this ball of white light further to cover your entire country.
Expand it even further to cover the entire earth.
Expand it further to cover the entire solar system.
Expand it even further to cover the entire galaxy.
Now finally expand this ball of white light as further as you can to cover the entire universe.
You are now infinite.
You are everywhere.
You are at every time.
You are at every time.
Now you have become that infinite being.
You are now connected to your Atman.
Stay in this place of deep rest as you listen to the music in the background and feel that peace and relaxation fill your being as you enter the world of sleep.
