I invite you all to come into the present moment,
Just noticing whatever's happening for you right now.
Whatever you're experiencing,
Not preferencing,
Analyzing or judging,
Simply bringing and allowing open awareness.
And as you notice all the flux and movements within the body and mind,
See how these things are constantly changing,
Transforming and morphing from one state to another.
The physical body keeps on presenting different feelings and sensations.
The emotional landscape keeps on shifting,
Depending on thoughts in the mind or memories,
Or noticing the subtle subconscious happenings.
So none of these things within the phenomenal world remain still,
Constantly changing,
And none of them are reliable.
We can't depend on any of them.
We can't hold on to any of them,
Seeing the reality of impermanence.
So we recognize from the outset that none of these changing phenomena provide a refuge for us,
And perhaps when we think we know who we are within this flux and flow,
It changes.
So we can never rely on any of that for a stable sense of self.
These appearances keep changing.
But what is it in you in this very moment that is aware of all this,
Which knows that?
Can you recognize that knowing nature and rest in that and use that as your anchor in the midst of all these changes?
You can recognize all of this,
But don't go looking for it as an object or a thing.
Simply notice your own beingness come naturally,
Easily,
And effortlessly into presence.
If you still feel at this moment somewhat involved and identified with the appearances,
Your mind might still be thinking,
Or your heart is stirred up.
Perhaps your body feels uncomfortable or restless.
That's not a problem.
The very act of simply knowing that,
Of being aware,
Brings us immediately into a state of knowing.
So we're not completely asleep and caught up.
Once you know these things,
And perhaps see the tendency towards clinging to them,
Just surrender them gently.
And in the process of surrendering,
It can help bring you back into your own natural state of knowing.
