Welcome to Right To Be You,

A creative sanctuary where I invite you to join me on a guided journey and then if you choose to arrive on the page and greet what has emerged during the meditation.

Begin by gently closing your eyes and easing into the transition from your outer seeing to your inner seeing.

Feel into the space behind your eyelids,

Noticing the subtle lights and variations that dance behind the curtain of your consciousness.

Allow your body to sink into the support of the cushions behind you,

Beneath you,

And now gradually turn your attention to breath.

So often we move through the world with our breath entirely out of our awareness.

I invite you to welcome in three deep breaths,

Breathing in through your nose,

Expanding your belly as you inhale fully,

And then slowly exhaling through your mouth,

Feeling a complete release as your belly deflates like a balloon.

And then again,

Breathing in through your nose,

Expanding your belly as you inhale fully,

And then slowly exhaling through your mouth,

Letting go,

Softening,

And now one more time,

Deepening your in-breath and lengthening your out-breath.

With each breath,

Begin to call in a feeling of effortlessness.

There is nothing to do here,

Nothing to prove here,

Just breath,

Just body,

Just you being held by my voice,

And each breath bringing you closer to a feeling of peace and possibility.

And as you allow your breathing to return to a natural rhythm,

Notice the space you have created inside of yourself to feel more at ease,

More relaxed,

Like the ocean after a storm.

If you are noticing storms continuing to brew inside of you,

Tension in your shoulders,

Your back,

Your jaw,

Storms that show up as worries,

Demands,

To-do lists,

Just acknowledge their presence and offer them more breath,

More softness,

Envision them blurring around the edges and slowly,

Slowly drifting away.

I invite you now to imagine yourself in a room of your own.

This space is your creative sanctuary where you are free to express yourself however you choose,

No rules,

No tools,

No directions to follow.

Here is a space led by your heart,

Heard by your soul,

Nourished by a joyful and mindful presence.

I encourage you to truly feel into this room with all your senses.

What color are the walls?

How many windows?

Imagine how the light travels around the room making shapes and shadows at different points in the day.

What is your view from this room?

What do you see beyond the windows?

And now turn your attention to the floor beneath your feet.

Is it wood or tile or a soft rug?

Is there a desk,

Perhaps an easel,

A bookshelf with books you have loved or will love in the future?

Space to dance and move and stretch.

Are there any musical instruments?

Meditation cushions.

Take a moment now to move around this space,

Your sacred space,

And begin to tap into how it feels to be inhabiting this room right here,

Right now.

Your time is your own.

Your attention is drawn to all the details that make this room special.

Are there plants or a vase of bright flowers?

Is a beloved pet there with you?

Any precious objects,

Framed photographs,

Your favorite pen,

A colorful palette of paints,

Or a drawer of journals,

Full and empty?

Is there other furniture in this space?

A cozy chair?

A floor lamp?

Or is it lofty and open?

Is there art on the walls?

Yours or others?

And as you design this space exactly how you want and need it to be,

Summon in sound.

Is there music playing?

Or is it quiet?

Except for the intermittent birdsong wafting in through an open window.

And what can you smell?

A scented candle?

The aromas of lavender?

Or jasmine?

Or sage?

Now tune in to how your heart feels here.

Expanded.

Peaceful.

Inspired.

Full of possibility.

Imagine yourself growing into this space actively,

Sitting at the desk,

Writing,

Painting a vibrant image,

Playing the piano,

Dancing with flow and freedom.

The opportunities here are endless,

Boundless,

Bountiful.

And with each breath,

You feel more deeply connected to this room,

This space,

This sanctuary,

Where the key belongs to you,

And you begin to truly embody what it feels like to have changed the locks,

So the critic and the judge and the people pleaser no longer have access here.

You decide who enters.

You decide what and how and when you will create.

You decide to carry this room within you,

As you imagine now the walls dissolving,

And this sacred inner space merging with the natural world beyond,

Becoming one with the tall trees,

The waves of the ocean,

The ripple of the stream,

The wind in the leaves,

The flight of the birds,

The burrows of the small creatures,

The mystery of the magic that you carry inside.

And now,

As you slowly and gently transition from your inner world back to your outer world,

As a further invitation,

If you feel called to the page,

Pick up your pen and write continuously for 10 minutes using the timer on this app.

There is no right or wrong way to do this.

Arrive on the page as you did in the room of your own,

With all your senses alert and your heart open.

You can forsake punctuation or explanation,

Just write what you feel compelled to express.

You can write about your room,

Your feelings,

Your desires,

A new creative idea.

The page is beckoning.

Give yourself permission to write to be you.
