The next important posture of awareness is the context of “listening with the heart.” The spiritual heart if not limited by the physical body, it is the totality of your connection with the qualities and expressions of your true nature of Being. The first expression (movement) from the source of the Ground of Being is radiant Pure Light and Infinite Peace. This Peace is felt and experienced by our bodies as Love, which is experienced through the heart centre.

Hello everybody and welcome to meditation number five.

And the context of this meditation is called listening with the heart.

And so this is a very important posture of awareness,

Listening with the heart,

Rather than seeing with the mind and listening with our ears.

And this is a deeper,

Much deeper opportunity to really connect with the ground of being and that love and that depth of your true nature.

So the spiritual heart is not limited by the physical body.

It is the totality of your connection with the qualities and expression of your true nature of being.

So the first expression,

The first movement that we spoke about in the ground of being,

The big being,

So that very first expression is the radiant light,

The pure light,

An infinite peace.

And this peace is felt and experienced in our bodies as love.

And this love,

This divine love,

Not a personal love,

Is experienced through our heart center,

Through the center of our soul.

And so when we drop our awareness into the heart,

It enables us to physically experience the heart of consciousness,

The light,

And the source of the ground of being,

The source of the divine.

So the true nature of the soul can be felt as palpable presence in the heart space.

It's not always felt as a physical experience,

But as more of a presence,

A sense of knowing,

A quiet resting in the ocean of grace.

It is the spacious,

Deep,

Undeniable presence that not only fills your entire being,

But it is also what we extend love and forgiveness and compassion out to humanity.

And so what we're going to do now is to just get a sense of the mind.

So you may have your eyes closed by now,

Or if not,

Closing your eyes.

And just so that you understand what does it mean by listening with the heart or seeing with the heart.

And this means that we're viewing life from our heart space instead of viewing it from the mind and from what we see through our limited perception of our mind and our eyes.

Because our mind is used for judgment,

It's for ideas,

Beliefs,

It's for analyzing,

And it's what we use to perceive our entire existence from every moment of life.

What we see through our eyes and what we veil through our mind is based on our minds,

Our conditioning of life,

Our human conditioning.

And so what we're going to do is we're going to just for an exercise,

Just notice the place of the mind and the thoughts.

I'm going to get you to drop your attention down beneath the stream of thoughts.

So just dropping your attention down beneath the stream of thoughts.

You may notice that your attention falls down and you can clearly define the thought stream.

And when you drop your attention down beneath that thought stream,

There is just like an emptiness or a space.

And that space isn't filled with thoughts and beliefs.

That space may get filled with questions that try to bombard it,

But if they do,

Just let those thoughts pass by again in the stream and then direct your attention down back beneath that stream of thought.

And just notice how peaceful it is when we drop our attention down beneath.

The stream of thoughts is,

Represents like the waves of the ocean.

It's like the crashing waves.

And when we drop our attention down beneath the waves,

We're actually dropping our attention down into the quiet,

Still part of the ocean.

So the waves are all on the surface,

Coming and going really loud or,

You know,

Just little waves.

But at the same time,

We're dropping down into beneath the waves,

Beneath the waves of thoughts,

Down into the very quiet depth of the ocean.

And you're noticing how peaceful it is,

How it is beautiful to set ourselves free from the incessant mind and noise of the mind.

And now I want you to,

We're going to go a little bit further now,

We're going to drop our attention down to our heart space.

So dropping down now into the heart space and just noticing how that feels.

So your attention's down on your heart and you'll notice that when you're down in your heart,

Again,

There's no thoughts.

There is just a rich presence.

And the heart space is the space of love,

Compassion,

Forgiveness.

So we're just putting our attention on the heart space.

Just noticing again,

The further we drop down,

The more peaceful it becomes.

When we turn within and drop our attention down within,

The deeper we go,

The more peace we're able to meet.

And this is,

This peace is our true nature.

Because our awareness is still there.

So it,

That's who we are,

The awareness that is aware.

We're not our thoughts.

We're dropping down and the same awareness that is aware of the thoughts is also here in this beautiful,

Restful depth of the heart.

And so you're gently breathing and as you breathe in,

And then breathe out.

Just notice the expansiveness.

Notice how there's a difference between the mind and when your attention's up on the brain and on the mind.

It's like focused and direct.

But when our attention's on the heart,

There is an expansion.

It's much more of an open space,

Expansive,

Openness.

And now as you breathe out,

You're getting a sense of your heart space opening.

Breathing in.

And as you breathe out,

Just imagine these windows at the heart and they're just opening up and there's this expansion of peace.

And it's just extending out before you.

So you're breathing in peace and you're also expanding and extending that peace out from your heart.

And just imagine,

What would it be like if your attention was on your heart and you were seeing from your heart space as much as possible instead of seeing from your mind and the contractions of the thoughts and analyzing and judging.

When we drop your attention down to the heart,

When we see from our heart,

We're actually seeing from the place of compassion and non-judgment.

And we're just seeing,

Moving from the place of forgiveness and a love.

A love that doesn't judge.

A compassion that just knows that everyone in our life is just doing the very best that they can do with what they've been given and who they know they are.

And so we can be really humbled by this beautiful opportunity that we have to be resting in the space of our heart.

Feeling the presence of compassion,

Forgiveness and love.

And every time we exhale we're just opening more and letting everything,

Everything go.

And just continue to practice that a little bit longer.

So if you get pulled up into your mind,

We're just dropping the attention back down again,

Deep into the heart and breathing in peace.

And as we open our heart and allow that to expand from our heart and that's expanding as a peace.

Well you might feel it as a warmth or you might see it as a colour.

And it's often represented in many spiritual traditions that the heart,

This love,

This light,

This pink light or this golden radiant light expands from the heart of love.

And that's what this is based on because this is the expression and the expansion of the soul's love,

The true nature of love itself.

Not the love that's conditioned by the mind but the love that is an unconditioned presence.

G gave.
