Gratitude
Our world urges us to rush, to chase, to do more—often at the expense of presence, connection, and the simple joy of being. Too often, it takes loss or crisis to remind us of what we are missing. But we don’t have to wait for suffering to wake us up. At any moment, we can choose to notice what is already here, what is already enough. Pausing to acknowledge goodness is not a distraction from the world's pain; it is an act of balance, a way to stay whole. Giving yourself permission to savor joy—especially in a world filled with suffering—can feel radical. You may notice guilt, resistance, or even a quiet fear that happiness is fleeting, too good to last. But denying yourself pleasure doesn’t protect you; it only deepens distress. You deserve moments of goodness, however small—a sip of warm tea, the scent of earth after rain, the warmth of sunlight on your skin. These moments nourish you, and in doing so, they nourish the world.
