Hello and welcome to this meditation.

This Christian meditation is called Lectio Divina.

Lectio Divina means divine reading or divine word.

And how this type of meditation usually is accomplished is by choosing a short passage from the scripture and meditating on it,

Memorizing it,

Praying over it,

And repeating it in your mind as often as you can over a given period of time.

And as you do this you'll allow your thoughts related to the passage to surface.

And you'll just give yourself time to allow all of these thoughts to just linger in your mind and then bringing your focus and your attention back to that passage.

While you're meditating on the passage you'll be asking the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart using that still small voice.

Oftentimes the passage can be a passage of thanksgiving or praise.

It can also just be a passage that brings you comfort.

Oftentimes we use Lectio Divina as a lamenting often as well.

So we're going to get started with a passage today for our practice.

And the practice we'll do today is on the scripture from Psalms 136 one.

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.

His love and faith endures forever.

Psalms 136 one.

So I invite you to find your comfortable seat perhaps on the floor with your legs crossed or in a comfortable chair with back support.

Go ahead and close your eyes or focus your gaze softly ahead of you.

Psalm 136 one.

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.

His love endures forever.

Bring your kind awareness to your breath.

Breathing in deeply and exhale.

Taking a moment to invite the Holy Spirit into the presence.

Just allowing yourself to sit in the presence of Jesus.

Offering him your heart,

Your mind,

And your soul.

We set an intention for this meditation to embody the spirit of gratitude and thankfulness for the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord.

We can use this passage as a breath prayer.

Reciting the scripture with inhale and exhale.

Inhale,

Give thanks to the Lord.

Exhale,

For he is good.

Inhale,

His love endures forever.

And exhale.

Continuing this posture of prayer if it's comfortable for you.

Take this moment on your next inhale to bring your hands over your head,

Palms together,

Down to heart center in prayer pose.

Continuing with your breath prayer.

Inhale,

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.

Exhale,

His love endures forever.

Inhale,

Give thanks to the Lord.

Exhale,

For he is good.

His love endures forever.

As you continue to breathe silently with this breath prayer,

On your next inhale,

Raise your arms up over your head to extended prayer,

Extended mountain.

Just allowing your hands to rest above your head in an open receiving posture.

And allow your hands to come back down to your thighs,

Your knees,

With your hands open.

Allowing your gratitude and your praise to be lifted.

Continuing with your breath prayer.

Inhale,

Give thanks to the Lord.

Exhale,

For he is good.

Inhale,

His love endures forever.

Inhale,

Give thanks to the Lord.

Exhale,

For he is good.

Inhale,

His love endures forever.

Exhale.

For the next couple of moments,

I invite you to meditate on this scripture in whatever way is comfortable or appropriate for you.

However,

The spirit is drawing you.

Maybe your hands are raised in thanksgiving and praise.

Maybe your hands are folded in a posture of humility and grace.

Maybe you choose to lie in a prone position,

Offering your gratitude.

Or maybe you remain sitting in the stillness and the presence of Jesus.

Just meditating on his goodness and the love and kindness that endures forever.

As you bring your focus and your attention back to the present moment,

I invite you once again,

For your last inhale and exhale of your breath prayer.

Inhale,

Give thanks to the Lord.

Exhale,

For he is good.

Inhale,

His love endures forever.

Exhale.

Our verse today was Psalm 136.

1.

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.

His love endures forever.

Have a great,

Great day,

My friends.

May you walk in peace.
