Do you basically know what you want to change in your life but just can't seem to make it happen?
It might be that you need to transform your habits so the patterns of your life work for you.
In this guided meditation I'll share with you practical tips for transforming your daily habits to help you get your life on track.
First we'll relax the mind to get into a reflective state,
Then I'll ask you powerful questions so you can apply these tips to your own life.
So make sure you're in a safe,
Quiet place,
Not driving or using machinery,
So you can relax.
This isn't medical advice or therapy,
This is about empowering your personal growth.
So,
Make yourself comfortable,
Close your eyes and start by taking a deep breath,
Really fill the belly and then a long release.
Take another deep breath like this,
Then let your breathing settle into its own natural rhythm and allow your body to completely relax.
Let it settle into the surface underneath,
Allow all the muscles to soften,
Body relaxing,
Mind relaxing.
So,
Think of some habits that you really want to develop,
Habits that'll make you feel more successful,
Maybe more healthy.
Keep these habits in mind as I take you through these tips.
Tip one,
Set up your environment for success.
Before you begin any of your new habits,
Think about what will make them easier to do,
Like putting out a meditation cushion ready for morning meditation by your bedside,
Or leaving out your yoga mat or dumbbells ready for when you get home.
Deliberately setting up your environment in your line of sight ready for the time you need to do it,
It'll just feel easier.
So,
Think about a new habit you'd like,
How can you ready your environment so it's there waiting for you at the right time.
Tip two,
Add pleasure,
Blend positive feelings into your new habit so that there's less emotional resistance to doing it.
Maybe it's playing music in your new workout habit.
Maybe it's doing your new work habit outside in the sun so it's more peaceful.
So reflect,
How could you add some pleasure into your new habit.
Tip three,
Attach habits to events,
Not times.
To build momentum with any new habit,
Keep things simple.
Instead of saying,
I'll do it every day at seven o'clock and worrying about being a few minutes late,
Or checking the exact time,
Just say that you'll fit in this new habit after an existing daily task,
Like saying,
I'll do it every day after dinner,
Or right after work,
It cuts down the thinking around it and uses existing patterns.
So what event could you tag your new habit onto so it fits in with your current life.
Tip four,
Anchoring rituals.
This is a deeper one.
Dedicate one or two brief moments in your day to remind you of the goal you're driving for and why.
What would it give you to achieve it?
This gives energy to all your other habits that you're building as it gives them purpose.
This might be setting morning intentions,
Using positive affirmations,
An evening visualization meditation or journaling your progress.
So even if it's just a few minutes per day,
What ritual are you drawn to and when would you do it?
Well done.
Now,
Open your eyes,
Bringing ideas with you that you can use to build habits that last and take more control of your life.
