Part of Reuben’s “This is Me” series, this meditation invites listeners into a deeply personal journey of grounding and self-connection. Guided in the first person, it brings us to create and inhabit a safe inner space. Through mindful breathing and gentle cycles of opening and closing the eyes, this practice nurtures awareness of the body’s natural rhythm, the softness of the breath, and the stillness within. As part of the “This is Me” series, it emphasizes self-care, presence, and the profound connection to oneself, offering a safe harbor from which to observe life’s busyness and embrace a calm, nurturing stillness.

This is me,

My safe space.

Choosing to be here now.

Everything here was created from nothing.

This includes you.

This me here now.

Gently allow yourself to notice what is already here.

In its magnificence.

Noticing your body,

How it makes contact with where it's resting in this moment.

And there's a you here now,

Gently absorbing all these sensations.

Let's drop into that safe space within us.

This is a little exercise that we'll do three times to prepare us for this dropping into ourselves.

Opening your eyes and taking a breath in and allowing a soft gaze in front of you.

And when you're ready,

Allow your eyes to close as you exhale and surf the breath down,

Down,

Down to the bottom.

Notice how the closing of your eyes together with the gentle connection of your out breath may help you just go within and be open and receptive to this space within you.

Let's do this again.

Opening your eyes,

Taking a deep breath in,

Allowing a soft gaze in front of you.

And then when you're ready,

Out breath,

Closing your eyes,

Surfing this down,

Down,

Down to the bottom.

Noticing that space inside you.

The softness of how your body breathes.

Last time,

Opening your eyes,

Taking a deep breath in and when you're ready,

Allowing your eyes to close as you exhale and connect to your out breath.

Down,

Down,

Down to the softness of how your body breathes,

Now at its own rate and rhythm.

Just the out breath.

The softness of my out breath.

It's good for me to tune into myself,

To give myself this gentle self care right here and now as I choose my safe space in this moment.

My safe space that is here within me as my body gently breathes at its own rate and rhythm.

In breath,

Out breath.

This is me.

Here I am.

There is the experience of my body breathing.

And this is me experiencing this.

This is me noticing this gentle downward pull from the earth,

The flow of gravity.

And the more I experience what this closing of my eyes is like and my gentle out breath doing its thing,

The more grounded I become.

The more I experience these parts of my body resting in this moment,

Almost like my body begins to melt,

The more aligned,

Rational,

Grounded I become.

And the more space I notice within me.

Within me,

This safe space from where I am noticing,

All is still.

Looking onto the busyness of my experiences,

The sounds around me,

The thoughts coming and going.

This safe space from where I am noticing,

All is still.

Every single moment of connection to my breath as my body breathes is a non-verbal declaration to myself for my self-care.

I love the softness of my breath because it nurtures me.

I love the rhythm of my breath as I notice it has space around it.

I love the softness of my breath because it is moving as the stillness around it continues to nurture me.

There is the experience of my breathing and here I am noticing this.

A gift to me and from me.

This is me,

Here I am.

Rueben, what a peaceful calming meditation. I love the reminder of stillness, the gentleness of how the breath brings us back to the present moment and how it creates space and with safety within us. Thank you for sharing it with us. It’s wonderful to hear you again.🌸💞

It has taken three attempts to get to the end of this track! Having fallen asleep on my first two attempts. It made me feel very zen. “ to be in a state of deep relaxation, calmness and peacefulness, where you are fully present in the moment without worry or stress. Essentially feeling completely at ease and centred within yourself” I loved it and so will you Tanusree. with all those gongs! Thank you Reuben 🙏

Such perfect timing! I'm recovering from the flu and pneumonia. I love all your meditations, but this one was really timely with my being sick.
