See the world with new eyes. Join award-winning photographer Mia Collis and Yoga teacher Laura Bunting for a 6-night retreat in the heart of Kenya’s wilderness. The Art of the Wild blends guided photography, mindfulness, and quiet safari exploration into one creative, soul-restoring experience.
This is not a traditional photography course.
This is not a meditation retreat. This is something else entirely — a space to slow down, reconnect, and explore in the heart of the wilderness. Is this retreat for you? This retreat is designed for anyone curious about photography and eager to deepen their connection with what they see. Whether you love photography and want to explore wildlife photography or are simply curious about meditation, mindfulness, and slowing down, this experience offers something for you. If you crave time in nature away from the noise and prefer a small group setting that fosters spaciousness, depth, and meaningful connection, this retreat is a perfect fit. Rest assured that no prior experience in photography or meditation is required to join.

Location

Laikipia County, Kenya

Laikipia County, located in central Kenya, is a region of breathtaking natural beauty and ecological diversity. Stretching across vast plateaus and rolling hills between Mount Kenya and the Great Rift Valley, it’s home to wildlife conservancies, private ranches, and community lands that host elephants, lions, rhinos, and other iconic African species. The area offers a tranquil, off-the-beaten-path experience for visitors seeking safaris, nature walks, and cultural encounters with local communities such as the Maasai and Samburu. With its expansive landscapes and clear night skies, Laikipia provides an ideal setting for reflection, adventure, and connection to nature.

Enasoit is a luxury tented camp in the wildlife-rich Laikipia highlands of Kenya. The camp is an enchanting, exclusive property, catering for only one group of guests at a time, and offering a uniquely private safari experience. Enasoit guests have the camp and surrounding wildlife reserve all to themselves – an ideal retreat for families and groups of friends. As a small and intimate camp, Enasoit has a unique charm. It is relaxed and welcoming, yet luxurious and beautifully appointed. An Enasoit safari offers remarkable wildlife encounters and an array of exciting ways to experience the wilderness. One of the most distinctive features of Enasoit Camp is the extraordinary wildlife activity at the waterhole, located just in front of the main Mess Tent – the perfect viewpoint for wildlife-viewing from the comfort of an armchair.

House of Waine - Nairobi Your retreat begins in the leafy suburb of Karen. After you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you’ll be welcomed and transferred to House of Waine. A boutique hotel known for its serenity, warmth, and locally inspired cuisine. You’ll stay here for one night before heading to Kenyan’s plains. Enasoit Camp - Laikipia Plateau Set on 4,500 private acres, Enasoit is one of Kenya’s most exclusive private conservancies. This is where the retreat unfolds - in a camp that feels more like a private home than a hotel. Each tented cottage is beautifully appointed, with views across open plains where giraffe, buffalo, and zebra roam freely. There’s an open-air lounge, a pool, and spaces to gather - or to disappear into silence.

On retreat we are focused on food that is all about nourishment. Fresh, seasonal, and full of flavour, our meals are designed to leave you feeling grounded, energised, and deeply cared for. Think home-grown herbs, garden vegetables, and recipes that celebrate the joy of eating well. At Wildlife & Yoga, we believe food is part of the experience - wholesome, soulful, and shared around the table.  We cater to dietary requirements so please communicate this with the organisers so we can plan accordingly.

Schedule

The retreat begins with a warm welcome at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and a private transfer to the boutique House of Waine in Nairobi’s tranquil suburb of Karen, where guests can relax and unwind after their journey. The next morning, after breakfast with Laura and Mia, a private charter flight takes participants to Enasoit Conservancy, where the retreat opens with lunch, a grounding meditation, and a sunset safari. Over the following days, mornings start with sunrise game drives, followed by leisurely breakfasts and free time for journaling, reading, or massages. Afternoons bring more wildlife exploration on foot or by vehicle, while evenings feature meditation and dinners beneath the stars. The retreat concludes with an optional final game drive before returning to Nairobi by private charter late in the morning.
