Emerson College exists to help people discover the gifts that live within them. To help bring these gifts to the world in service of the well-being and vitality of ‘life’ (human life, the living earth, and the spiritual elements of life). As a charity, we support the needs of current and future generations by exploring ways to integrate the spiritual, social, and practical dimensions of life and work.

Accommodation at Emerson College is simple, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed to support rest and reflection. The rooms are calm and uncluttered, offering a peaceful place to unwind after a full day of creative and embodied practice. Set within the tranquil grounds of the college, they provide a quiet, restorative atmosphere that encourages deep rest and a sense of retreat. Staying on site allows you to fully immerse yourself in the experience, with nature, shared spaces, and the rhythm of the retreat all just a few steps away. At Emerson College, bathrooms are generally shared, rather than en-suite. You’ll usually find communal bathrooms located close to the bedrooms, and they’re kept clean and well-maintained. The setup is simple and functional, very much in keeping with the college’s retreat-style, no-frills ethos. It’s comfortable and practical, but not luxury spa vibes more “intentional simplicity in a peaceful place.”

Schedule

Over the course of the weekend, each participant will create a painting on a panel using acrylic paints. We'll work from a pre-mixed, unified colour palette and within a theme chosen in advance of the retreat. Reference materials will be provided, and participants are also welcome to bring their own images or ideas for elements they’d like to incorporate into their work. You’ll be guided step by step through the entire painting process. We’ll explore essential techniques such as colour mixing, brushwork, blending, texture application, and fine detailing. Instruction will include a blend of presentations, live demonstrations, and one-on-one support—helping your bring your painting to life. To deepen our creative connection, Li Lian will also lead guided meditations designed to inspire and open pathways to your inner creativity. Each day will feature approximately 6 -7 hours of painting along with 2 x 1 hour of yoga sessions and meditation.

The venu was amazing and very luxurious and so was the food! Emily and Li Lian made sure I had a special bithday making me a delicious 🎂 cake and a special gift of one of Li Lian's beautiful prints. 😍 I had the perfect start to my birtday celebrations and came home very relaxed and with a beautiful sunflower!

Emily is someone that came into my life a couple of years ago & I am very grateful. Emily has organised numerous retreats & workshops locally & overseas including Spain & India & all of which I have been involved with. Art painting & vision board days. Yoga retreats and classes and much more. I would strongly recommend checking the website and making contact to see what is happening next. Thank you Emily

Emily's retreats are the perfect way to press that reset button. As a yoga teacher she is by far the best I have come across. The food is incredible. Experiencing nourishing, tasty, colourful vegan food, as a keen meat eater, made the experience fully restorative. The location puts the cherry on the cake. I highly recommend her retreats and classes.
