Details

In June of 2026, gather for five nights and four and a half days with Herbalist and Priestess Suzanne O’Gara in Avalon (Glastonbury, England) to walk the sacred land as we forage, craft herbal remedies, and come together in ceremony. Our retreat dates are June 25th through 30th in 2026. During our time together, we will climb the Tor, enjoy private access to the White Spring and Chalice Well Gardens, explore the medicine garden at Glastonbury Abbey, roam the wild Faerie Forests beside the Marshes of Avalon, and spend an entire day outside of town at the Apothecary Garden in Butleigh. Each day together will not only involve spending time at historic sacred sites, but also hours of herbal medicine making and Kitchen Witchery - we’ll craft salves, teas, tinctures and more to help you build an apothecary worthy of Morgan Le Fay herself! Each night, there will be ceremonies, rituals, and even a Litha/Summer Solstice celebration led by myself (and maybe a guest Priestess or two).

Sleep and dine within the walls of our personal pagan palace! The Covenstead lies at the heart of downtown Glastonbury, just across the street from the majestic ruins at Glastonbury Abbey and a few doors down from the Goddess Healing House. There will be a limited number of retreat spots that include room, board, and single or double occupancy at The Covenstead, which we'll have all to ourselves! All rooms have private/en suite bathroom. Rooms are fully decked out with gorgeous antique furniture, luxury bathrooms with tub and standing shower, and abundant bedding, decor, and artwork creating an unforgettable atmosphere. Registration for one of these rooms includes full breakfast Friday through Monday in addition to the included meals with all packages (3 dinners and one lunch). Most beds are big enough to share, should friends, sisters, or female couples* choose to attend together. Please note that registration for a room and board spot does not guarantee choice of any specific room at The Covenstead, though you may express preference. *If you would like to bring a male romantic partner on retreat with you, there may be an option for this in 2026 - contact me for more details! There is also one spot available with accommodations (without breakfast) at the Glastonbury Rose Cottage, just two short blocks away from the Covenstead (a 5 minute walk at most). This is a beautiful, enchanting cottage with a unicorn over the front door and all shades of rose pinks and reds on the inside!

We are lucky to have two wonderful chefs for our retreat! Tony and his team at the Covenstead will cook breakfast each morning (order from their menu) and can accommodate vegan, vegetarian, omnivore, gluten free, and dairy free choices. Further, in each retreat package (with or without accommodations), four meals are included: 3 dinners and one picnic lunch, prepared by Chef Sean Roe, who will create meals that can work for each attendee's specific allergies and dietary restrictions. Examples from last year's menu include Ful Medames, Persian Love Cake, Vegan Avocado Pesto Pasta, vegan chili, optional chicken and salmon, and more. In addition, there will be plenty of loose leaf tea from my shop, Alchemy of Avalon!

Schedule

Our retreat begins on Thursday evening with 4pm check in, then gathering at 6pm at the Who'd a Thought It pub to share a meal (not included) and get to know one another. After breakfast on Friday we will gather nettles from the base of the Tor near the White Spring, creating a fresh infusion to drink during our opening ceremony - which will take place during private access time in the White Spring sanctuary with guest Priestess Annwyn Avalon. This is followed by a lunch break, then an herbal tea blending workshop (all supplies provided), then dinner, then ritual and crafting time in the temple space at Covenstead. On Saturday, weather permitting, we will go foraging around the Tor, visit the sacred Linden tree at Bushy Coombe, and hike the Tor together. After lunch we will make tinctures, oxymels, and salves in the kitchen at the Covenstead. After dinner on Saturday night, we will gather again in our temple space for a Blue Lotus plant spirit meditation. On Sunday after breakfast we will hike to Wearyall Hill to visit the original Holy Thorn tree, imbuing our hawthorn & rose oxymels with its magic and meditating on the meaning of this tree. In the afternoon, we will travel (taxi shuttle included) outside of town to the Avalon Marshes and the Faerie Forest for a picnic (we'll also make Faerie houses as offerings while we sing and chant for the Fae)! Monday morning after breakfast we will head across the street to visit Glastonbury Abbey, studying the medicinal herb garden and visiting the possible site of the black spring/dark well of Avalon. We spend the rest of the day at the Apothecary Garden in Butleigh, where we will receive a special lecture and demonstration on creating rose or lavender hydrosols/hydrolats with Richard, who will allow us to take home the hydrosols we create! We will also have a big feast, a Summer Solstice ritual in their stone circle, and a Bardic Circle at night. Tuesday early in the morning we have private access to the Chalice Well Gardens for our closing ceremony from 8am-10am. Hotel checkout is 11am.

Testimonials

info

"I loved the group dynamic, I feel we all did great at connecting…and it was such a joy to witness everyone open up as the days went on. I believe that having us gather around that beautiful table and share meals together was just the right kind of magick and helped weave connections and sister/siblinghood... and now I'm crying because it really was special.” Vandana, 2025 Retreat Attendee and Herbs of Avalon course graduate

"One of my favorite moments was definitely singing in the White Spring. Using my voice in that space as part of sacred practice was really special and powerful… I was so nervous to sing in front of people. But it helped me connect more deeply to myself and to the energy of the space and to everyone there. I've never felt that before. It was a rare moment where I felt confident in my voice and it just was so beautiful. It's a moment I'll hold in my heart always.” Camille, 2025 Retreat Attendee and Herbs of Avalon course graduate
