Details

A Taste of Silence Retreat is a retreat especially for you if you feel like you easily get overwhelmed by the business of the world around you. This retreat is perfect if you are already curious about what is going on inside of you and if you want to explore this on a deeper level. If you’re curious to try something new and experience what silence can bring you. To get some rest and space to be with yourself. In our Western society, it can feel very difficult to find rest and stillness in your daily life and this retreat will create a safe space for you, to really be able to take a break and get a transformational reset. You will have the space to slow down, shut off from the outside world, and dive deeper into your inner world. All of this is surrounded by nature in an old monastery tucked away in the Belgian countryside. A real detox and refresh from daily life!

Location

Geer, Belgium

Akasha is located in the idyllic area of Haspengouw in Belgium, near the German and Dutch border. Only one hour away from the cities Brussels and Antwerp, near the ancient city of Tongeren, there is this little ‘castle village’ called Heks (which literally means ‘witch’ in dutch), where Akasha is settled. The area is not only known for its spring blossoms and fruit trees, but also for its rich prehistoric, Roman and medieval history. Many archeological sites, as well as castles and old monasteries are telling its ancient stories.

The retreat will be in the beautiful Akasha retreat center in Heks Belgium. In this center, I spent a lot of time as a karma yogi (volunteer) myself, so I’m very grateful that I have the chance to organize my own retreat there and share my love for this place and silence with YOU! Akasha Retreat Center is a truly magical place. It’s an old monastery, it’s surrounded by nature with a big garden and with their adorable housecat Tosha (who’s always up for a cuddle). They have a beautiful temple for all the sessions, a cosy common area for dinner and relaxing, and of course clean and comfortable bedrooms (both private rooms and a dorm). It would also be possible to camp in the garden (limited spots available). The food that will be freshly made by the lovely team is organic and vegan, with sometimes even some fresh veggies from their garden!

If the weather allows it we can do it outside!

Schedule

A Taste of Silence retreat will give you the opportunity to take time for yourself only and to become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. You’ll get an introduction to meditation, breathing exercises, embodied movement, and gentle yoga. You’ll get supporting background information about calming the mind, embracing and accepting what is and connecting with your inner being. This retreat is all about YOU, as you ARE right here right now, for taking this time to connect with and embrace yourself. The first day will be the arrival day. Arriving in the here and now, taking a deep breath and connecting with the other participants. The two full days will be full silent days, for you to have the time to really go inwards and come back home within yourself. The first day will be more focused on (calming) the mind, and the second day about sinking deeper into your body. There will be enough free time to relax and reflect. The fourth and last day will be the day focused on your heart. Closing the silence together, by sharing your experiences from the heart and reflecting on the tools and inspiration you’ve gained. Getting ready to go back to the noise of the outside world, but with this taste of silence to take back with you. The daily schedule is a provisional schedule. The timetable is not final yet but gives you a good idea of the program.

The silent retreat was fantastic. Hannah is a cheerful, enthusiastic, very nice lady who welcomed us warmly upon arrival with a radiant smile! our room was great: the “white room” was so pure and zen decorated and a beautiful view of the garden. I can not describe the retreat in 1 word… FANTASTIC. EYEOPENER. BACK TO MYSELF. WONDERFUL. RELAXATION. NEW INSIGHTS. RESET. and especially the “personal touch” that Hannah wove into it was palpable in everything, so nice and nicely done! besides being a very experienced, very good guide of this retreat, Hannah is also super musical and we were able to enjoy her beautiful voice and self-written songs with great pleasure. wow that was beautiful! dear Hannah, I hope for a sequel because I am already really looking forward to your next retreat! put me on the (waiting) list :-)! during the retreat I had a lot of space to go into depth within myself. the sessions and meditations were great and felt very professional. especially the “personal touch” that Hannah wove into it was palpable in everything, so nice and nicely done! Hannah is also super musical so we were able to enjoy her singing talent with great pleasure. the way she wove her music into the silence was surprising and it felt like a very spiritual experience. wonderful 3.5 days at a top location in Belgium, for me personally it was almost too short because it was so nice, it could have lasted 11 days for me! I am not exaggerating when I say that a lot has “opened up” and changed positively in me. and the icing on the cake is that I literally got rid of my coffee addiction in those few days! wow, who would have thought! it has been a few weeks now but I still look back with a big smile on the beautiful days at A Taste Of Silence. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. lots of love for you Hannah! and of course also for your fantastic team with whom you made this possible.

Hannah, there are no words - this weekend was perfect, magical and filled with so much love that words cannot convey - lucky we were silent isn't it? I will definitely be at your next retreat. The location, the yoga, meditation and lectures, the sound baths and the food were all fantastic - thank you so so much. I have come home feeling lighter, with a different perspective on things.

My Taste of Silent Retreat was a real treat! It felt like a safe warm bath of love. Thank you, Hannsiee, for organising this wonderful experience together with your professional team. During the silence I achieved useful insights about myself and how I react to my environment. It was a positive learning curve to me and I felt being looked after during the more challenging moments. I enjoyed every moment of this journey. The morning meditations, the yoga sessions with Nadine and just being. And I LOVED the fresh and healthy meals that were prepared and served at Akasha every day. Looking forward to the next retreat!

I had been searching for a retreat that could guide me back to my true self for quite some time, even considering options in other countries. Finally, I found exactly what I needed with the ‘A Taste of Silence retreat'. I had been longing for the opportunity to simply stop talking and truly listen to myself. On the first night, I wasn't sure if anything would shift, but by the second night, everything changed. I felt a deep sense of certainty that the universe had guided me to this retreat precisely when I needed it. It allowed me to reconnect with the 'I' that I had buried so deep within myself, I feared I had lost it. I had been so caught up in doing, doing, doing, that I had forgotten how to just be. This retreat helped me rediscover self-love, which I realized is the key to being able to love others. I am incredibly grateful for this experience, and for the gentle, thoughtful guidance of the wonderful group Hannah brought together. Every detail was so carefully orchestrated, creating the perfect environment for personal growth. I’m thankful for meeting each of you and for the shared journey. It has been truly transformative. I will certainly carry these insights and inspirations forward into my yogi community in Gent, where I know they will resonate deeply with others. This experience is one I will continue to draw from and share.

The timing of this retreat couldn't be better. When Hannah posted about the retreat I wasn't feeling well. I had gone through a break-up, couldn't find a place to live and was on the verge of burnout. I decided to give this to myself as a gift! All in all it was a very nice experience. I'm an introvert and have no trouble being quiet at all. I just found it difficult to communicate non-verbally. But at some point you get used to it. I loved not having control. Don't decide for yourself what time you get up, what and at what time you eat, when you exercise. It will all be taken off your hands. Before the retreat I meditated occasionally, but with yoga I always felt like I was 'not good enough' at it. The informative sessions with Hannah made me realize that it is not about how flexible you are, but that yoga is much more of a lifestyle. Before the retreat I could be quite obsessive about sports and I always wanted to go to the limit and I was quite strict with myself. When I got home I rediscovered pilates and I think it's okay to exercise without having to break down completely. I also found it interesting to learn more about breathing exercises because I practice freediving. These techniques will certainly come in handy. What I find especially funny is that I haven't had my car radio on for a moment since the retreat. I love music, but hate advertising (I don't have Bluetooth in my car, just a basic radio). I sometimes drive for hours without any noise! I love that peace and quiet. All in all it was highly recommended. For me it was a very relaxing experience. Coming back to basics, finding a home within yourself again. Without distractions and external stimuli.

All of us will remember the first Taste of Silence Retreat. Soooo special. Nadine and you... Wow, what a team! Everything was perfect. The yoga, the teachings, the meditations, the place, my special bench in the park, oh and the food! You nailed it! A very special time, thanks for having me.
