Details

Join us for an unforgettable experience in the Sahara Desert to connect to your Soul, manifest your deepest desires, and listen to the Silence within – the space where all the answers are at present. Immerse yourself in ancient Berber culture from the Amazigh, the free people, that traces all the way back to high cultures in Egypt. Learn about their nomadic way of life, how to read the stars and be guided by the moon. Visit ancient fossil sites where you can still find shells from the time the desert was an ocean. Join a local concert of Gnawa music, a spiritual music of African origin that is used for healing, and visit a nearby village with a large Souk to shop traditional clothes, Argan Oil, Rose Water, Berber jewellery, home decor and more. The retreat starts in a Berber Riad at the dunes' base and includes a two-night stay in nomad tents within the Sahara for an authentic desert experience.

Location

Hassilabied, Morocco

Merzouga, a small village in southeastern Morocco, is famed for its proximity to Erg Chebbi, one of Morocco's many expansive Saharan ergs or sand seas. The stunning dunes of Erg Chebbi, which can reach heights of up to 150 meters, offer a dramatic landscape and attract visitors from around the world seeking the quintessential desert experience. Merzouga serves as a gateway for adventurous activities such as camel trekking, 4x4 desert tours, and overnight camping under the stars. The village itself, while modest, provides a range of accommodations and services catering to tourists. The unique cultural experiences, combined with the breathtaking natural beauty of the sun setting over golden dunes, make Merzouga a captivating destination for those looking to explore the magic and mystique of the Sahara Desert.

We’ll be staying in a typical berber Riad built by a former nomad family in a village at the footsteps of the dunes. The hotel has an inner courtyard (patio) with a pool, and semi-luxurious rooms in the first and second floor with AC and own bathroom. We will also venture out two nights into the Sahara desert and stay in nomad tents amidst the dunes for a full immersion into nomad life. Here you'll have an outside bathroom.

Meals

Meals provided

Breakfast · Dinner

Diets catered

Vegetarian · Halal

Vegetarian breakfast and dinner are included. We’ll serve traditional Moroccan dishes and intercontinental food, to vary the choices. For lunch you can choose to either skip the meal, get something from the menu in the hotel or grab a bite in nearby local places. Be aware that local places serve little vegetarian options, but they have pizza, sandwiches, soups, salads, berber omelette, couscous and tajine. All of it very delicious! There are also small shops with groceries and anything you might want to buy for daily necessities, or just to get an ice cream and some fruits.

Schedule

The retreat features daily sessions to connect deeper to yourself and others through the 5 elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space. Our activities include movement, dance, meditation, cacao ceremonies, authentic relating, and breathwork. In between sessions, you’ll have enough time to relax, enjoy your time by the pool, or explore the nearby sand dunes. The final day culminates on a New Moon, the perfect time to plant new seeds for your path ahead and step forward with clarity. We’ll also go on 2 excursions to learn more about the berber culture, visit a place for traditional spiritual music, berber shopping and fossil trekking. There is no pressure to join any of the activities, in case you want to take time for yourself to „retreat“. Most important is that you ENJOY your time in the desert and that can magically unfold differently for everyone. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• The retreat starts on the 22. March with a Marrakesh pick-up, where we leave in the early morning by minivan to arrive in Merzouga, Erg Chebbi, in the afternoon. The retreat ends on the 29. March with a Marrakesh drop-off in the evening. You’ll need to book your own accommodation on the nights of the 21. March and the 29. March in Marrakesh. There is an option to skip the extra nights by arriving from Fes and self-travel to Merzoug. When you travel to the desert yourself by flying to Errachidia / Ouarzazate, are coming from Fes or wanting to arrive a few days earlier, the price will reduce by 110€. All travel related tips are in our FAQ. On the days between the 23. and 28. March we’ll be in the Sahara with a regular daily schedule.

Testimonials

info

I left the retreat even liking yoga, and I normally don’t do yoga, and yes, can’t believe I say this, but also feeling more connected to the Universe!

Jeannette, UK

Every day was amazing, from the yoga, meditation and movement classes, to the individual sessions, the excursions and the nights out in the desert in the nomad camp. The retreat had a life changing effect on me!

Sanne, NL

It was so much fun to be in the desert, learn from the nomads and hear the silence of the dunes. The food was also really good. I enjoyed the walking meditation and the Kundalini elements a lot.
