Jumbo,
Dear traveler.
And welcome to Safari and Soul.
This is Rashma.
And today we are in Naramuru in northern Kenya.
With Mount Kenya just behind me,
Covered in the clouds.
You can hear the birds going away to bed.
And the wind's getting stronger,
Helping this fire.
So let's take a few moments to take a few breaths here and think about the warmth in our lives,
Even if we don't have a campfire tonight.
You can choose to close your eyes if that's comfortable.
Feeling the wind on your face.
The warmth from the fire.
Checking in with your body.
Where it feels tense,
Where it feels tired,
Where it feels like it just needs a good stretch.
With your palms facing up or down or even folded in front of you.
Let's take a deep breath in.
Look up to the sky.
And exhale.
As we round our back.
Back to the earth that nourishes us.
Just think about all the fires that have been lit over generations.
To keep people warm.
It is around these fires that stories have been told.
Do you remember a story that you were told around a campfire?
Perhaps think of that memory now.
Do you remember what lesson there was from that fire story?
What stayed with you?
Who told you that story?
Think about the people who you have been surrounded by.
Around a fire.
People you love and cherish,
People you laugh with,
Perhaps cry with.
Maybe even new friends.
Think about the times when you have sat with your family and ancestors around the fire.
And what that felt like.
Think about the time you've been around the fire with your immediate family.
Your partner,
Perhaps your children,
Or your pets even.
What's that felt like?
How did you feel in that moment?
Did you feel warmth from the fire?
Warmth in your heart from all the love around?
Think about those moments.
Think about what you did around the fire.
Did you roast some marshmallows?
Perhaps did you cook some potatoes?
What did that feel like?
And finally,
Think about a fire just before bedtime.
Just before rest.
And with that,
Perhaps feel a relaxation in your body.
And as you inhale.
.
.
Exhale all the tension from your shoulders,
Your chest,
Your belly,
Through your feet.
Listen to the sounds of the wind.
To get ready to rest.
When you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
I hope you have a restful evening.
I hope you feel the warmth from the fire.
Have a great night.
Kwaheri Kwajua,
Goodbye to the sun until tomorrow.
And Vala Salama.
Rest well,
Dear friend.
Thank you for joining me.
