Settle in,
Dear one.
The day is done,
And it's time to let go and snuggle in.
Let me tell you of a story of when I was a young girl.
It is the story of the horse that rode away.
It was my first time riding a horse,
And I was with my family on vacation.
We were going on a guided family tour.
My horse was assigned and chosen for me.
And as soon as we started off,
My gentle horse changed,
And it began to gallop.
And the gallop turned into a fast-paced run,
And we rode past my parents and my sisters,
And we rode through the fields,
Past the trees,
Past the water,
And my heart pounded.
I was exhilarated.
I was free.
I touched the back of the horse,
And I gave the horse a gigantic hug.
I felt the horse's heartbeat,
And I found my own heartbeat.
And as I did,
The horse slowly began to reduce his pace.
The leader met up and brought my horse to a halt,
And he apologized and said that he didn't know what had happened and that this has never happened before.
I knew then that my horse was restless because he felt my own restless spirit and my desire to be free.
And he went for it.
Today,
When I feel stressed,
Anxious,
Tired,
I think back to that day,
That joyous day when I was filled with that sweet exhilaration.
We are all connected to nature and animals.
So when I feel restless,
The city girl thinks back to that ride,
And I close my eyes,
And I feel that exhilaration of that ride,
And I touch my own hair,
And I find my own heartbeat,
And I pause,
And I breathe.
I hope you have sweet dreams,
Dear one.
Namaste.
