Welcome,
And thank you for choosing to spend this time to experience this meditation.
Settling,
Finding a comfortable way to hold your body,
Sitting or lying on the floor,
Acknowledging and allowing respect for the boundaries of your body,
Its needs and its limits.
Placing your hands in a gesture of relaxation.
Nothing special needed here.
Resting,
Feeling gravity reaching into you,
Limbs,
Muscles,
Bones,
Heart and flowing blood opening,
Releasing what the day has written into you,
Gracefully melting as the night's frost is first touched by the dawning of early spring sunshine,
Softly releasing,
Fluidly and simply being here,
Warmed by this moment you have given yourself.
In this practice,
We will explore the miracle of consciousness,
Your consciousness,
Without fear.
I ask you to join me on a journey and surrender deeply to where there is nothing you have ever known.
Night sky,
The stars above,
Thrown to the dark of night,
Light scattered diamonds,
The sound of owls called to the silence of the night,
The earth releasing evening aromas and scents.
Perhaps,
In this imagination you can feel the coolness of the earth beneath in gentle conversation with your skin.
Can you just rest here a little,
Falling into this landscape of your imagination,
Owls calling to other,
Ancient rhythms of night and sound and fragrance,
Gently blanket you,
Gravity moving into you,
Stars brightly shine announcing their place within the velvet sky,
Each star faintly flickering like ancient cosmic blinks.
Rest here,
Be here,
Concern,
Slowly,
The stars fade and each blinks their last,
One by one,
Until the sky is inky black,
Beyond even the horizon of blackness.
In your imagination,
No sounds slowly fade to silence,
Until no more sounds are here,
Not even the sound of silence,
The coolness of the night and earth dissolves away from you,
Gradually,
Imperceptibly,
Until there is simply no sensation,
Not even the embrace of gravity,
Not even the absence of sensation,
Beyond blackness,
Beneath silence,
Outside of sensation,
Sensationless.
This is how the world really is,
The night sky,
An unknowable blackness,
Stars do not wink and shine,
Even the noonday sky is black,
The sun does not shine.
Rest here,
Be here,
Concern,
Slowly,
The stars fade and each blinks their last,
One by one,
Until there is simply no sensation,
Not even the absence of sensation,
Not even the absence of sensation,
Without alarm or concern,
If you can,
Be here for a while,
Unfolding into this nothingness,
Allowing this to move through you,
Very slowly,
Opening your eyes,
Gracefully dissolves the night,
Possibly look around the space where you are,
Consciousness,
Yours,
Contacting the world out there,
Beyond boundary of skin,
Consciousness,
Yours,
Peering within you too,
Eyes closed,
And imagine the void of nothing,
You are in the void of nothing,
You are in the void of nothing,
You are in the void of nothing,
You are in the void of nothing,
You are in the void of nothing,
You are in the void of nothing,
You are in the void of nothing,
You are in the void of nothing,
You are in the void of nothing,
You are in the void of nothing,
You are in the void of nothing,
You are experiencing the world as it is,
All there really is,
Is effervescent movement of patterns of energy,
Maybe,
You can now wonder that no light exists without you to turn waves of photons into brightness,
Colour,
Form and shape,
No sounds exist without you to turn ripples of molecular compression into sound,
Rhythm,
Symphony,
No temperature exists without your flame to turn the flow of thermal energy into the feeling scape of coolness,
Hotness,
Warmth,
The fact we see,
Hear and sense the world is entirely shaped and exists as you come to know it within the contact of your consciousness with the world,
Your consciousness seamlessly,
Effortlessly gives birth to all that you have come to know of the world through your senses and within your consciousness,
The dance of patterned energy is shaped and written into you by you,
A becoming that has no beginning or end,
This whole mystery is the essence of nature's miracle,
The ordinary in the everyday,
The miracle we live with and within we are,
It takes your consciousness,
Even now,
Wherever you are in this world to give birth to all phenomena you know,
To give birth to this miracle,
This flow of consciousness in a dance with the world,
Consciousness,
A becoming,
A presencing the world into existence for you,
You in the world,
As dancer and dance,
One inseparable,
Indivisible,
Miraculous,
Contemplative you wish,
Each human is composed of 7000 trillion trillion atoms,
Each atom born in the heart of a star,
Who knows how many,
All long faded now into the halls of time,
Each human brain,
Each in a handshake with 10,
000 others,
Possibly more potential patterns than atoms in the known universe,
Birthright is no different than rocks and some streams,
Yet we are special,
Not because our atoms are special or contain specialness more than anything else,
But because our atoms are arranged in a special and particular way to create life,
To create consciousness,
To create you,
Of all the energy in the universe,
We have the extraordinary privilege of being composed of the very flow and patterns of energy that has mingled and merged to create conscious life,
Uniquely aware of ourselves,
Knowing we create meaning in the universe,
We create societies,
We create values and morals,
Science and art,
Attending to the world,
We come to know meaning in the ripple play of light on a lake,
The sweet taste of apple or spices aroma,
The awe of sunrise,
The moment of sunset,
The birth of a child into the world,
The sound of symphonies,
The grace of a deep friendship,
Equally finding joy in the warmth and contact of a loved one's hand held in a knowing silence,
We can be moved to the vastness of the night sky,
This liminal boundary opening to eternity and infinity,
This moment is always an opportunity to pay attention to the world we create,
An invitation to begin again,
Finding wonderment in being conscious,
Don't miss the collateral beauty of the seemingly ordinary that may fall too casually beyond your attention,
Consciousness,
Attention,
A moral act,
Live,
Knowing that,
Once more,
Surrender to being here for a little while now,
Held by gravity,
Breathed into a becoming consciousness,
Perhaps,
You can allow the following words to pour into you without need for more thought,
I do not know what I may appear to the world,
But to myself I seem only to be like a child playing on the seashore and diverting myself in the now,
And then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary,
Whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me,
These words were spoken by Isaac Newton,
Consciousness,
Attention,
As a moral act,
Meditation,
Practice,
Never ends,
But simply transitions into life lived,
And life turns again to practice,
When ready,
Move into your day,
And the gift of consciousness allows you to bring the world into being,
How different may your day be,
With your consciousness contacting the world,
You are bringing the world into being as a moral act,
Personal creation.
