Use this meditation to tune into the ways you have survived the challenging experiences, and how you can use the tools you learned in that experience to channel into your future. Focusing on how you survived is more important than focusing on how you were victimized.

Let's start off by taking a nice deep breath in and out through the nose.

Breathe deeply into the diaphragm,

The space between the ribcage and the belly button.

Take a deep breath in and out.

Allow your body to soften and relax.

Allow every cell in your body to release any tension that it's holding,

Any anxieties,

Any worries.

Make sure that your body is completely comfortable and continue taking those nice deep breaths as we journey through this meditation.

It can be easy to forget how strong you've been.

It can be easy to forget how much you've gotten yourself through.

Instead,

We can end up focusing on the injustices and the cruelty towards us.

We can sit and ruminate over all the things we could have done better,

Should have done differently,

And all the pain it has caused us.

But if you can look back at these traumatic situations and see how your brave soul survived them,

You've found yourself a lifelong tool that you can pull back out of your backpack when you're feeling hopeless.

You did that.

You got through it.

You can do it again.

So the next time everything starts feeling a bit impossible,

Remind yourself that you're a survivor.

Continue taking those deep breaths in and out.

Allow your body to deepen and relax.

Allow your mind to release anything it's holding onto here that no longer serves you.

Notice your body beginning to let go.

Notice how each breath feels through the nostrils,

The throat,

And the lungs.

Notice the temperature of each breath,

The way the air feels against your skin.

Taking one last deep breath now,

In through the nose,

Out through the nose.

Slowly bringing your awareness back to any sounds outside of my voice.

Picture of the room you're in.

Any smells or sensations on your body right now,

Where your clothes feel against your skin,

Feet against the floor,

And at your own time,

Whenever you're ready.

Gradually blinking the eyes open and coming back into the room.
