There is probably something you have already thought about enough.
A decision,
A conversation,
Something that happened,
Something that might happen.
And still.
The mind returns.
One more thought.
One more possibility.
One more attempt to finally feel certain.
This is the promise of overthinking.
Just think a little longer.
And then you will know.
Then you can relax.
But when thinking only creates more thinking,
You are no longer solving the problem,
You are circling it.
Often the mind is trying to protect you from regret.
From rejection,
From making the wrong choice,
From being unprepared.
It is trying to create safety through certainty.
But certainty is not always available.
No amount of thinking can guarantee a perfect decision.
No amount of analyzing can tell you exactly what another person feels.
No amount of worrying can reveal a future that has not happened yet.
So bring to mind the thing you have been thinking about most.
Do not enter the whole story,
Just recognize it.
And ask yourself.
What do I actually know?
Not what you fear,
Not what you assume.
What do you know?
Separate the facts from what the mind has added.
Maybe they are angry.
Maybe I chose wrong.
Maybe this will go badly.
These may be possibilities,
But possibilities are not facts.
Now ask,
Is there anything useful I can do about this right now?
If yes,
Identify one action.
Only one.
Make the call.
Send the message.
Gather the information.
Take the next step.
Not the whole future,
Just what belongs to you now.
And if there is nothing useful to do,
Ask.
What can I leave alone for now?
This can feel difficult because the mind may say,
Keep thinking.
This is urgent.
You need an answer.
But not every thought that feels urgent is important.
And you do not have to feel resolved before you stop thinking.
What do I know?
What can I do?
What can I leave alone?
Once you have answered those questions,
Do not reopen the case unless something new has changed.
Perhaps your mind keeps replaying the past.
What should I have said?
Why did I do that?
The past cannot be edited.
If there is something to learn,
Learn it.
If there is something to repair,
Repair it.
Then stop asking the mind to rewrite what is already over.
Perhaps the loop is about a decision.
You keep comparing,
Checking,
Reconsidering,
Trying to make sure you choose correctly.
But sometimes you are not looking for the best decision.
You are looking for a decision that guarantees you will never regret it.
That decision does not exist.
You make the best choice you can with what you know now.
And if new information comes,
You adjust.
Sometimes overthinking is not a lack of information,
It is a lack of trust.
You are trying to know everything in advance because you do not fully trust yourself to handle what happens next.
But you do not need to predict every outcome if you trust yourself to respond.
If something changes,
You will meet it then.
If you make a mistake,
You can correct it.
If something does not go as planned,
You can adjust.
So when the mind begins circling again,
Do not fight it.
Simply notice,
I am back in the loop.
Then ask,
Am I discovering something new or repeating what I already know?
If nothing new is being discovered,
You can stop.
You do not need to solve a future that has not happened.
You do not need to keep analyzing a past that cannot be changed.
And you do not need complete certainty before you take the next step.
What do I know?
What can I do?
What can I leave alone?
Let that be enough.
The goal is not to control every outcome.
It is to trust yourself to meet what happens when it happens.
You do not need to predict your way into safety.
When more becomes known,
You will respond then.
Until then,
You do not need to keep living inside the question.
That is enough.
