Welcome.

My name is Cara and I'm going to be leading you on this guided meditation today.

I'd like to invite you to find a comfortable position that allows you to feel supported and nurtured.

There's no right or wrong here,

Only what feels good in your body in this moment.

Once you find yourself there,

If it feels safe to do so,

Allow your eyes to drift closed.

Or allow your gaze to soften so that you're able to turn your attention inward.

As we begin this journey,

Allow your attention to focus on your breath.

Notice how your breath is feeling as it moves in and out of your body.

Simply observing,

Not changing anything.

Stay in this space for a few breaths.

Just watching and experiencing your breath.

Invite your attention now to drift away from your breath and allow it to sink into your imagination.

In your mind's eye,

Imagine that you're walking through a wide grassy field.

In the distance,

You see low rolling hills.

Trees are scattered around the hills and they stand out starkly as the sun,

A glowing orb,

Is beginning to set behind them.

The sky is streaked with wisps of cloud and it ranges through shades of gold,

Orange,

Pink,

Purple,

And then into the darkness of the coming night.

The air tickles your skin only slightly.

You take a deep breath and the smells of the earth and the grass ground you into this place.

As you continue walking,

You can feel the gentle give of the sod beneath your feet.

You can hear the soft buzz of the evening bugs coming alive.

You even notice a few fireflies flickering in the dimming light.

Up ahead,

You notice a small figure sitting on a stump.

In front of the person,

There looks to be a small campfire set up.

As you approach,

You realize the figure is a child,

Maybe eight,

Maybe ten years old.

They look up at you and they wave.

As you step closer,

You realize the child is your younger self and they're waiting for you.

You take another deep breath and step forward,

Greeting your younger self.

You are handed the tools to light the fire and without speaking,

You do.

It lights quickly and easily and you notice there's another stump,

So you sit together,

Simply watching the flames in quiet companionship.

Time passes.

And you realize that your younger self is no longer watching the fire.

Instead,

They're gazing at you with a soft smile and bright tears in their eyes.

What's wrong,

You ask?

And their smile widens.

Nothing at all.

I'm just so proud of who we've become,

They reply.

But now it's time for you to go and to keep writing our story.

Though you can come visit me here anytime you like.

You take another deep breath and you gaze at your younger self.

Perhaps you offer them a hug or words of love.

Or perhaps you just take one more silent moment together.

And then you take one last look at the campfire and begin your journey back.

It is full night now.

You can see the stars appearing overhead.

The glow of the almost full moon creates a soft haze over the grassy expanse.

You walk slowly away,

Not looking back.

Knowing that this special place is always here in your heart and in your mind.

Slowly allow the vision to fade to full darkness.

Invite a deep breath in through your nose and allow it to release softly through your lips.

Finding yourself back in your body.

Gently return to watching your breath.

Allowing it to ground you back in the present moment.

As you continue to return into your body and your space.

Perhaps invite a little bit of movement in.

Wiggling fingers or toes.

Or rocking your head side to side.

Or even some completely different movement that just happens to feel right in your body in this moment.

As you are ready,

Allow your eyes to flutter open if they're closed and find yourself back in the world.

Move with care as you continue to return into your space.

Offering yourself gentleness and kindness as you return to your day.

Thank you so much for joining me for this meditation practice.

With love and gratitude,

I wish you peace.
