Hi,
My dear friends.
I'm really excited to be here and share this practice with you.
This practice known as La Chi.
So it's a very simple practice,
Requires minimal movement and through time you may not even need the movement.
But La Chi is a practice that supports the rhythm of the universe which is naturally to open,
Naturally to close,
Naturally to draw life force energy from the external into this physical body.
Additionally to naturally release what no longer serves us into the universe.
And as we focus on this rhythm consciously,
Because it's happening all the time,
That we are giving ourselves this full permission to be able to again fully open,
Open into the oneness in a way almost dissolving into this complete connection with the universe.
And of course always acknowledging that there is our own individual experience.
From that dissolving we gather abundant life force energy that is in alignment with our true self.
So the movement is very simple and there's different variations but of course I'll walk you through the variation that you can start practicing with on your own.
So as we do this together we're going to first take a moment.
I'm going to demonstrate the movement and then we'll do a practice.
So we can begin by bringing our hands to navel level.
So the palms are facing each other.
Here's my navel,
So about navel level.
And we're going to sense the space between the shoulder blades,
Space between the shoulder blades gently open.
As we feel the space between the shoulder blades open our arms and elbows are naturally going to follow as well as the palms.
In the beginning I encourage you to not go too wide with the palms,
So no wider than your body width.
Then allow your shoulders to relax,
Shoulder blades coming together,
Elbows coming towards the body,
Palms coming toward each other without touching.
So this is the physical movement.
Again feeling the space between the shoulder blades separate,
Floating the elbows out,
Palms follow.
Relaxing the space between the shoulder blades,
Elbows coming towards each other,
Palms coming towards each other without touching.
So this is the physical.
From here we're going to go into the mind intent.
So the mind is actually guiding this movement and it's doing so when the mind expands.
The mind can expand throughout your body,
Expanding beyond your perceived physical boundary,
Out to infinite space in all directions simultaneously as best as you can and as far as you can.
So the mind is going to expand open all directions,
Up,
Down,
Front,
Back,
Left and right,
Opening out to infinite space.
Then the body follows this opening.
From here when the mind draws back from all directions,
Back inside to our center,
The body follows by closing.
So again simple practice of open and close.
So now together we can bend our elbows,
Palms facing each other at navel level.
You're welcome to practice this practice with the eyes open or eyes closed,
Whatever your preference.
In this position I still invite you to subtly adjust your body,
Meaning we're going to feel the top of our head reaching up to the heavens above,
Keeping the center of the chin tucked down and back,
Gently lengthening the neck vertebrae without force.
We're going to relax our chest,
Slightly tuck in our lower abdomen and we're going to raise what's called Hui Yin.
This is the space between the genitalia and the anus.
A gentle lift inside,
Simply bringing awareness to it in the beginning and it will already be activated.
Let the knees open to shoulder width and the feet connected to the earth.
Whole body relaxed.
From here with eyes open or eyes closed,
We begin our La Chi practice,
Allowing the mind to expand through all layers of the body,
Expanding outward in all directions the body follows.
So we open.
Now the mind draws back deep inside.
We float the palms back towards each other without touching.
Again,
Open,
Separating the space between the shoulder blades,
Elbows and palms follow.
Then we gather.
We draw the awareness inside,
Relaxing the space between the shoulder blades,
Elbows and palms follow.
So as we continue,
I'm going to say some Chinese words.
So as we open,
You're going to hear Ka and close Ho,
Bringing the palms together without touching.
Again,
Mind expands.
Right hand first for women,
Left for men.
Draw your attention to the space behind your navel,
Closer to your spine.
This is called your lower dantian,
Lower elixir field.
And we nourish this area for our physical health.
Relaxed.
And you may maintain this posture as long as you wish.
And on your own time,
Gently open the hands.
And for those with eyes closed,
Gently open the eyes.
