We've heard that expression,

You know,

Numb from the head down,

From the neck down.

And really,

This is the state of many of us,

And we don't realize it.

But many of us have just been taught to become unconscious of our bodies and what we're feeling.

So we go along,

Out of touch with our bodies and our emotions.

And we just operate on our thinking through our heads.

The trouble is that what we're thinking is totally affected by what we're not feeling,

What we're pressing.

So if one's going forward with maybe some dense emotions that one is out of touch with,

They will still affect the thoughts.

And make our thoughts darker and more suspicious,

Say,

Than they would be if we were more clear.

So the way to have a more pleasant thought climate is to learn how to feel our emotions,

Feel what we're feeling,

Wake up to our bodies below the neck and be aware.

So for me,

I am 24-7,

I'm aware of my body,

What my clothes feel like on it,

Any heat or tension or energy rushes going on.

At the same time,

I can hold a conversation with somebody and be very deeply involved in the conversation,

But I never lose awareness of my physical or how I'm feeling.

So this gives me a tremendous amount of data and information that if I was numbed out to it,

I would not get.

So for example,

If I'm talking to someone and they're saying something and it's not true,

I get the information that it's not true and I will get it through my body for how I feel,

What's going on with me.

So I might suddenly feel a tension when they're speaking,

As I'm registering it's not true.

But it would be that is registering on a level that if I was numbed out to my body,

I wouldn't get it all,

I wouldn't get the information.

And so I would be duped.

Also way more important than that is if we're numbed out to our bodies and our feelings and emotions,

We're out of touch with joy,

We're not feeling real joy or happiness.

If you see a child,

Their joy and happiness is so strong.

So as an adult,

If we return and become aware of our bodies and our feelings,

We can return to that same level of joy and happiness that we experienced as children.

To get there,

Though,

We might have to learn how to embrace some difficult emotions.

So maybe I'm going along in my life.

And I have some encounter with somebody and I feel very distressed afterwards.

Maybe I might feel anger,

Intense anger,

Or maybe feelings of hatred come up.

So what I do is I just experience the feelings and I embrace them.

I don't buy into them.

And I might be feeling them and part of me may be hooked into it.

But part of me knows that this is dense emotion.

And so this material is ego and it's come up to be cleared.

So I start a mantra or I give over this material.

I give over hatred or rage.

I give it over to the universe and ask for help.

Then I go about my day.

And maybe my thoughts return to it like an obsessive,

Like checking to see the mouth canker.

Is the mouth canker still there?

Is it still there?

Does it still hurt?

Is it still there?

And I might check it during the day,

But then I would remember and give it over.

And then gradually what would happen is the emotional complex underneath these emotions would start to dissipate.

It would start to clear.

I would start to,

Yeah,

It's like that ego,

The ego would start to become smaller.

It would start to let go.

And the higher awareness of the eternal nature would flow in with information.

It's quite a knack to learn how to do this,

But as you learn how to sort of self purify and allow the self cleaning to happen through your life,

You become more and more peaceful,

Happier,

Wiser,

More loved by other people and just freer.

I don't have the sense in the West that it's common knowledge for how to do this despite all the therapy.

But it could be.

It could be.

And I'll learn how to do it.
