The mind is tricky. It can be so supportive and encouraging and then switch and become our worst enemy. Knowing the dual aspects of the mind is a powerful way to grow in awareness of your higher self and begin feeding the part of your mind you wish to grow strong. In this practice I refer to an old story about the two wolves of the mind, White and Black.

Your mind is tricky,

Probably trickier than you realize.

In fact it's so clever and so tricky that often you don't even realize what it's saying.

If you listen carefully to your mind you'll notice that it fluctuates wildly.

Sometimes it's incredibly supportive and backs you.

Sometimes it's a team player.

It's behind you all the way,

Encouraging you,

Supporting you.

It's what the yogis call buddy or the higher mind.

At other times the mind is nasty and deceitful.

It's a terrible friend,

A betrayer.

It can pull you down,

Drag you through the mud,

Discourage you and leave you feeling absolutely defeated and deflated.

And this is what the yogis call manas or the lower mind.

The old story about two wolves fighting within us,

A black wolf and a white wolf,

Goes back to the ancient Indian traditions.

And in this tradition a chief was asked,

Why do I sometimes have these wonderful thoughts and other times have these terrible thoughts.

And the chief said,

Well there's a white wolf and a black wolf inside you.

And the people said,

Well what's going on with these wolves and the chief replied they're fighting.

And the people asked,

And which one wins?

And the chief said,

The one that you feed.

Whatever you feed will live,

Whatever you ignore will die.

And having the awareness to watch your own mind is incredibly insightful.

If you stop feeding the negativity and fear of the lower mind and begin to feed the higher mind instead with encouraging thoughts,

With the right people,

With the right environments,

You'll find that the white dog,

The white wolf grows stronger within.

The black wolf will always be there and that lower part of the mind that lets us down,

That discourages us,

That is in many ways not our friend,

Will always be there.

But the question is,

Can you have enough awareness to notice it and let it be what it is?

So this is a question to ask yourself every day.

Which part of my mind am I listening to?

Am I allowing my mind to rule my life?

Do I have the presence to be able to draw back and watch it?

And we all fall,

We all fall,

You will fall,

You will fall down over and over again and yet it's how often you pick yourself back up that makes all the difference and so pick yourself back up.

Pick yourself up over and over again.

Climb back up to those higher parts of the mind.

Re-center,

Breathe,

Do what you need to do to lift your spirits.

It's about taking action,

It's about taking the actions that get us back on track when we fall and we do and we learn what allows us to fall into the lower parts of the mind.

So I encourage you if you're listening to this today don't get beaten down if your mind is playing games with you.

Realize this is a very part of the duality of your own consciousness.

It'll always be there but don't let it rule your life.

Be the master of your own destiny.

Choose into those parts of yourself.

Choose the parts that are so encouraging that lift you up again and build those up.

Feed the white wolf and blessings to you for tuning in.

Thank you.
