Welcome to Day 38,

The Silence of Peace.

Begin by feeling at home where you are right now.

At home with the sounds and sights around you.

Shift your posture to a comfortable,

Awake position.

And with closed eyes shift your awareness inside to your breath.

Follow the stream of air as you inhale and exhale.

Let your thoughts and feelings fly by in the space of your mind and heart.

Keep releasing all thoughts and rest in the space between your breath.

When your exhalation ends there is a tiny little space before the next inhalation begins.

It is completely silent.

There is no need for thoughts here.

But silence of thought doesn't mean it is silent of words.

Even when your thoughts are released you can still hear.

You can still see,

Feel,

Talk,

Act,

Breathe and listen.

Try to listen from this space between your breath.

Listen to silence.

Listen where there are no thoughts pull you in any direction.

Listen from this peaceful space within.

There is no need for you to understand anything.

Just breathe and enjoy the silence.

Sometimes we feel uncomfortable in silence.

We want to fill it out with words.

It is the same inside.

We want to fill it with thoughts.

But it is just another habit.

We can grow the habit of silence instead.

The habit of being content in this moment.

Some of us are so used to thinking that we don't know what to do once we let go.

And the endless rumination ceases for us to breathe moment.

It is a bit like my grandmother told me.

My grandpa always wanted to have the radio on.

Always.

The whole day.

And at first she thought it was so disturbing.

But then she got used to it.

And decades later when my grandpa died she kept having the radio on out of her habit.

Or his habit.

And then many years later I asked her why she still has the radio on.

And she told me about the whole story.

And then she suddenly stopped having the radio on.

And she told me it felt so weird at first.

But then she got used to it again with a peaceful silence.

Are you ready to get used to this?

To get used to the peaceful silence?

The silence.

Congratulations.

Finished day 27.

And tasted the silence of peace.

Let's finish by taking a moment of gratitude.

Give thanks for all the good things you have received.

And feel grateful to yourself for all the good deeds you have done for your own and everyone else's well being.

I've only just discovered your meditations. My dad always had the radio on and he died 20 years ago, and I still do it too purely out of habit. Today I will stop and enjoy the peaceful silence. NamastΓ©

This was a gentle exercise that teaches you to turn off the noise and try to enjoy the peacefulness of silence. It gave me the choice to keep the noise or let go of it. I love the way it took me through every step. I also learn better when given examples. Grandma and Grandpa's radio will continue to help me see (actually hear) the difference between noise and silence. Thank you for these peaceful moments. πŸ™ˆπŸ™‰πŸ™Š
