Step one,
Notice.
Just check in with yourself,
Take a few moments and ask yourself how you feel today.
How's your mood?
How are your emotions?
How does your body feel?
And just notice where you are today.
Step two,
Breathe.
Just take your attention now onto your breath and watch your inhale and your exhale in their natural rhythm.
Don't seek to change them,
Just tune in to what they're doing now.
And breathe.
And now we'll connect your breath to your heart.
Just imagine your in-breath and your out-breath is moving deep into your heart and deep out of your heart.
And feel those two things start to synchronize the natural rhythm of your heart and the natural rhythm of your breath.
And if it feels right,
Start to deepen your breath a little so it's easy and relaxed.
Step three,
Activate.
Today we're going to consider how useful fear can be for us.
We all experience fear and in our modern lives we're often in a state of low-grade fear which we call stress interspersed with moments of slightly more intense fear.
And this can be very tiring and we look for ways to alleviate this.
And actually listening to this audio may,
For you,
Be one way to do that.
So in a curious way,
Fear may have brought you here.
And that is the perspective we want to look at today.
The energy of fear rather than our fears themselves can be enormously useful to us if we can use it kindly rather than harshly.
If I have to speak in front of a large group of people I will feel fear that is a given for me,
That energy will be present in my body.
But when I accept that energy and use it to trust that the talk will go well,
It is a totally different experience to using that energy to worry that it will go badly.
If I'm afraid,
I can let my kindness use the energy rather than giving it to my anger or my anxiety.
So just consider this for a few moments that it is within your power to choose how you use the energy of fear.
Step four,
Beam.
So allow this perspective to just sit with you for a few moments and decide that today when you feel fear or anxiety you're going to give it to your kindness and you're going to let your kindness use that energy.
And feel the ease settle in as you agree on this with yourself.
And let that ease and the kindness that you have agreed with yourself today be available for everybody that you meet.
