Hello and welcome to Peacebeam and to the 5 Elements of Love,
Session 5,
Respect.
Let's begin with Step 1,
Notice.
Let's take a few moments to tune into yourself and to hold the question,
How am I?
Observe your emotions and your mood.
Maybe just scan your body,
How does it feel to be in your physical body today?
And if there's any obvious tension in your shoulders or feet or hands,
Just let it go.
As we move to Step 2,
Breathe.
So,
Just gently bring your attention now to your breath.
Continue breathing normally,
But just start to notice the breath moving in and out and just watch it for a few moments.
And now just gently extend your in-breath and your out-breath,
Just so you are breathing a little deeper.
And as you feel some ease and relaxation start to arrive in your body,
I want you to just imagine that your breath is moving in through your nose or mouth and it's going deep into your heart.
And as you breathe out,
It's a breath out of your heart.
It's beautiful.
And as you hold this image in your mind,
Your heartbeat,
The rhythm of your heart and the rhythm of your breath are greeting each other and they join together to form the rhythm of you,
Where you can relax for the next few moments.
As we move to Step 3,
Activate.
Today we are contemplating the fourth element of love,
Respect.
And this is one of my favorite words.
It immediately brings the word dignity in its wake for me and a feeling of great peace.
When we talk about respect as an element of love,
It goes beyond deep admiration.
It speaks to reverence for the dignity and the integrity of somebody or something,
Whether that is our planet,
Its creatures,
Ourselves or each other.
Respect is a quality of seeing.
Who is this other?
How are they different to me?
How are they the same as me?
How does the world look to them?
Respect is a curiosity to know the sacred in all things,
To make the assumption that all life is inherently sacred.
And that is how we practice this element of love,
As a way of seeing ourselves and everything else.
So call to mind now somebody that you deeply respect.
Bring into your consciousness their qualities,
Their attributes,
And just take a few brief moments to feel the charge of the energy of respect run through you.
Feel its animation,
Its reverence,
Its dignity.
And just for today,
I want you to practice this new way of seeing with yourself.
Look at yourself through the eyes of dignity,
Integrity and sacredness and allow this to take root in you.
Step four,
Peace beam.
As the energy of respect with its high vibrational shimmer radiates through you,
Intend now that you and everybody you meet today will be touched by that energy and feel themselves as a sacred being,
Worthy of respect.
