Hello,
And welcome.
My name is Julie,
And I'm glad you've joined us for a parent break.
If your eyes are open,
I invite you to close them,
And let's take a few breaths together to move from the outside inward.
We'll inhale,
Release.
Inhale,
Release.
Inhale,
Release.
Now I know that you are a kind and loving person.
In all likelihood,
You spend much of your days either showing love and kindness to those around you,
Or planning how you will show that love in many ways.
Almost every day,
You care for them,
Teach them,
Help them to see their own growth,
Imagine how to make it easier for them to grow,
Make time to listen to them,
Plan fun adventures for them,
Feed them,
Shop for them,
Earn for them,
Create time for them to sleep and rest,
Clean for them,
Drive them,
Hold them,
Comfort them,
Dream for them,
And keep them safe.
Let's spend a moment here in that feeling of loving kindness you have for all of those around you,
Whether they're your friends,
Those family members that are older than you,
The same age as you,
And the children and youth who are in your care.
And here we are with all that loving kindness,
And I ask this question Are you as kind to yourself as you are to others?
Are you as kind to yourself as you are to others?
Let's take a breath as we consider that.
Let's review that list from earlier.
You are here at parent break,
And that means that you are making time to listen to yourself.
How else do you care for you?
Do you create time to see your own growth?
Do you imagine how you can make it easier for yourself to grow and to get the help you need?
Could you plan fun adventures for yourself?
Could you create time for yourself to sleep and rest?
Do you hold yourself?
Do you comfort yourself?
Do you dream for yourself?
I invite you to imagine what it could feel like to share that loving kindness with yourself.
If you're open to this,
We'll end today with an affirmation.
I invite you to say it with me three times.
I practice loving kindness toward everyone,
Including myself.
I practice loving kindness toward everyone,
Including myself.
I practice loving kindness toward everyone,
Including myself.
Let's take two breaths in which we inhale,
Float,
And release,
And then we'll come back to the rest of our day.
Inhaling,
Float,
Release.
Inhale,
Float,
Release.
For those joining us live at parent break,
We're going to take eight minutes for private personal journaling.
If you're joining on a replay or insight timer,
I invite you to do the same.
Thank you for joining us for this parent break.
