Accessing the Spirit Accessing the Spirit is central to accessing your true self or your soul.

In this meditation we quiet the mind and the body in order to better access your Spirit.

Close your eyes and comfortably place your hands in your lap.

Turn your palms downward on top of your thighs and let them rest.

Notice how the palms may feel heavy.

Be aware of gravity and how it very gently pulls us every second toward the earth,

Keeping us grounded,

Keeping us safe.

We never fly off the earth.

We never float away because of gravity.

Gravity,

The universe,

The divine force,

God constantly keeps us grounded and safe.

She gives us everything we need here in this moment.

In every moment we have everything we need.

Keeping your eyes closed,

Take your hands and gently place your palms over your eyes,

Rounding your fingertips up around your forehead.

Feel the warmth here.

This can be the most active part of your body,

Your brain.

Your thoughts come up without any prompting,

A continuous flow of likes and dislikes,

Of evaluations,

Of reasoning.

Just as naturally as your stomach growls,

Your brain produces thought.

Accept this and your thoughts with compassion and understanding.

Observe them,

Yet put them aside for now,

Quieting them.

When you find your attention on a thought,

Gently let go of it without judgment and become the observer of the thought.

Whatever thoughts may come up,

Simply choose not to focus your attention there.

Now take your hands and place them over your heart.

Here you may feel the beat of your heart and the flow of blood in your vessels.

You don't have to think to make it happen,

It just happens.

It is an essential part of what keeps us alive.

Your heartbeat can be your constant reminder that you are loved by the divine,

Never missing a beat,

Continually providing everything you need.

Your entire being depends on the heart,

And so far it has not let you down.

Your tissues are nourished with blood flow and oxygen and nutrients,

Sending you everything you need.

The Creator is expressed in you with every heartbeat,

Every minute of every day.

Now take both of your hands and place them on the top part of your belly,

Just below your heart.

This is where some say your gut,

Your spirit,

Your soul resides.

The you that existed before you were born and the you that lives on after you pass.

It's the face you had before you were born,

Before you were ever injured,

Before you accomplished anything.

This person,

You,

The true self,

Is created in the image and likeness of God.

It can be the quietest and most unassuming part of you.

It doesn't demand attention.

Your awareness of your spirit or God in you sometimes goes unnoticeable.

She is always there,

But we tend to be consumed with either the thoughts in our mind or the feelings in our body.

Our spirits are easily forgotten.

Here in meditation,

We quiet the body and the mind so that your spirit,

Your true self,

Your gut,

God in you,

The universe,

The divine one,

Can have center stage.

Place your hands back in your lap,

Turning your palms upward.

Remember,

Gravity is grounding you.

You're quieting your mind and closing your eyes.

You're just going to watch your thoughts go by in acceptance and love,

Never being pulled into them,

Listening intently to the divine,

To your spirit within.

Let God speak to your spirit for the remainder of your silent meditation.

You're quieting your mind and closing your eyes.

You're just going to watch your spirit for the remainder of your silent meditation.
