Welcome to this day one meditation.
It's all too easy to get overwhelmed in life,
Focusing on the past,
Things we should or should not have said or done.
Or on the future,
What we'd like to achieve,
And obsessing on how to make that happen.
For all we really have is this moment,
Right now.
Whatever season of life you're in,
Whether your life is on an even keel or you're in the midst of a deep inner healing journey.
Here we all are.
Together.
At day one.
This in no way negates any progress we have already made.
Neither does it assume we won't set and achieve our goals at some future time.
To acknowledge that we are always at day one is to acknowledge both our past and our future and to hold them both lightly.
To take the pressure off.
To acknowledge that a beginner's mind is a mind free from the restraint of expectation,
Of self,
Of others.
Of our journey.
So let's take a seat together here at the starting line.
In solidarity.
Acknowledgement and peace.
So take a deep breath.
Hold it at the top.
Exhale.
And let's begin.
Take a moment to notice your breath.
There's no need to change or manipulate it.
Just notice it.
And allow it to be as it is.
Breathing gently in and out of the nose,
Notice the air entering your body.
And leaving your body.
The rhythm of the breath which continues day and night,
Whether we choose to notice it or not.
Take a moment to be grateful for your breath,
Breathing slowly in and out of the nose.
Bring your attention now to your heart.
You may already be able to feel your heartbeat in your chest or somewhere else in your body Notice how your heart keeps beating,
Day and night.
Whether you choose to notice it or not.
Take a moment to offer gratitude to your heart as you sit in stillness.
Now repeat after me.
Here I am at day one.
I release past and future.
And I claim the gift of the present moment.
Every decision I have made has led me to this place.
I am exactly where I need to be.
Everything I need is being provided.
And everything I deserve is coming to me with ease.
A beginner's mind is a healthy mind.
A beginner's mind is a happy mind.
A beginner's mind is a peaceful mind.
In the field of infinite possibility,
Anything can happen.
All of us are only ever at day one.
Day one is my favorite day.
Now take a deep breath.
Hold it at the top.
Exhale.
And step back into your day.
