So often we share very little of ourselves moving through our days with others but with little sense of safety to be vulnerable or to connect authentically.
In today's meditation we will connect to an inner support system where we are safe,
Loved,
And supported.
We will activate this inner supportive family,
Often called our spiritual family,
Through this mindfulness meditation.
Begin by finding a comfortable position sitting or lying down.
Close your eyes or find a focal point.
Take a few slow deep breaths to bring your body into a state of calm.
Let's take a moment to mentally retreat for right now from all the concerns of your day.
If thoughts or concerns come to mind,
Gently let them pass knowing that they will be there for right now.
Bring your awareness back to your breath.
It is time to rest,
Revive,
And resource.
Visualize yourself in a place you love.
Make the intention to practice feeling safe.
Bring this safe place to mind.
Breathe in the essence of this place.
Sights,
Sounds,
Smells.
Breathe in the calm and comfort.
Imagine this place in 3D like you were there.
Say to yourself a simple positive statement.
For example,
I am safe.
I am okay.
Cross your arms over your chest with one hand resting on each shoulder.
Begin gently tapping each shoulder back and forth with your hands.
This is called butterfly tapping.
Continue to breathe in the sensory information of your safe place while tapping.
Notice if anything has shifted physically.
Absorb the feeling of being safe in this moment.
Even if you have never experienced safety,
You can create it for yourself and feel it by developing an awareness of it through imagery.
You are safe.
Now picture a trusted friend,
A safe and supportive person sitting or standing next to you.
This may be someone you have never met.
Someone in your spiritual family.
Someone you feel would support you.
Someone who's easy to be around.
Who you feel safe with.
This may be someone from your past or present.
You are safe.
You are supported.
You savor this feeling of comfort,
Familiarity,
Trust,
Belonging,
And support.
You are safe.
You are supported.
You are appreciated.
This person,
Being,
Being gives you a supportive touch or gaze.
They might hold your hand.
They might put their arm around your back or rest next to you.
They slowly leave your side,
But you are left with a lingering feeling of trust,
Belonging,
And support.
You notice an object in front of you.
It is a gift left by this person or this being.
This object reminds you that you are supported,
That you belong,
And that you are safe.
What is it?
What color and shape do you see?
Is it soft or hard?
Large or small?
Warm or cool to the touch?
What strikes you about the object?
You pick it up and put it in your hands.
You will remember this moment as you continue your day.
Feeling safe,
Supported,
Appreciated,
And belonging.
You hold this object as you take a couple more breaths.
