This embodied poetry practice invites some tender touch that helps with nervous system regulation and vagal tone. It is a reminder of how the Earth is always holding us and that we ourselves are nature and deserve to be tended to. This practice is a devotion to the preciousness of life and ourselves. The first part of the meditation is best done in a seated position, but after that any position, including lying down is amazing.

Tending to your precious self Because every item in your body is nature Maybe from here where you sit,

You can place your palms on your thighs Slowly using your hands to rub up and down With as much pressure as feels useful today Can you tune into the sensations in your hands and on your thighs?

What's the temperature like?

Does it feel warm?

Does it feel cool?

Is the pressure soft or is it firm?

How does this make you feel?

Just noticing all that is coming up for you right now There is no wrong answer There is only somatic information When you feel ready,

We'll take our attention to our hands Using the thumb of one hand against the palm of the other We are going to massage our hand Perhaps rubbing circles or making long strokes upward Letting your intuition guide you toward any areas of tension Any areas where it feels supportive to touch and massage today Maybe massaging your fingers And tending to these precious hands which do so much for you An area that leaks so much energy because we often get a lot through our hands Whenever you're ready,

You can swap hands and massage the opposite palm These are your hands So there is no wrong or right way to massage them Because they belong to you And only you can feel what they need If you like,

Anytime and it doesn't have to be now We will cross our arms over our chest and hold opposite shoulders or arms Like we're giving ourselves a little self hug You may like to gently sway side to side You can drop your chin to your chest and curl up like you're in a little cocoon Whatever feels supportive Whatever feels like tenderness These refreshed massaged hands now offering a little bit of soothing touch towards our bodies and ourselves If it feels interesting,

I invite you now to take your thumbs and fingers to your ears Massaging your ears,

The earlobes Wherever it feels okay to Can you feel the salinity of your body?

That you're real?

That you're here?

That you're feeling?

Finally I invite you to turn your attention to any area of the body that is calling out to you To spend a little time here,

Maybe giving that area some tender touch and gentle massage A bit of tapping or brushing Any area that feels like it needs a bit of tender attention Maybe it's the back of your neck The top of your head Your heart in your chest Tending to the preciousness of your body Whenever you feel content with the amount of tender touch that your body has received and has also given to yourself You may like to find stillness,

Softness Maybe coming to a position that feels somewhat comfortable Can you bring your awareness to the surface beneath you?

The surface that is holding you Can you feel your body sinking,

Softening,

Relaxing into the earth that is always beneath us?

The earth that is always holding us Can you feel the sky so high above,

Always sheltering us?

Giving us sunshine and moonlight and water Can you feel the air around your body?

Perhaps how it touches your skin and the edges of your body Can you pull your perception back and find the centre of yourself?

Your heart Your spine Can you rest your awareness in the softness of your breath?

Can you rest in the tenderness that you have created for yourself?

What is tenderness?

Tenderness is the raindrop landing in the soil where the daisies grow Tenderness is the daisies unfurling their soft petals in a balletic developing as they offer their nectar to the honeybee Tenderness is the wind that carries the bee as it soars The sunshine that leads it home Tenderness is the sunshine touching your skin on a winter's day Golden warmth on your cheek Tenderness is your cheek against the soft heart of someone you love in an embrace Tenderness is the one you love smiling with you and is the smile on your face when you dance with the waves and the ocean Tenderness is the ocean swaying to the rhythm of the moon and rising to the clouds Tenderness is the way the clouds so gently hold the raindrops Life is so precious It always moves in the direction of growth and love This tenderness lives within you The raindrops are your tears in the water streams in your body The bright nectar filled daisies are your heart so soft and filled with sweetness The honeybee is the beautiful thoughts that buzz and whirl The creativity that lives within you The honeyed creations that are birthed from your beautiful mind The wind is your breath always moving you The sunshine is your power,

Your desire Your skin is soft and it is here and it is made of the earth because you are nature The love you share with others is infinite,

It coats your bones like stardust You smile and isn't that wonderful,

How naturally it happens I'm speaking to that big beautiful smile that you cannot contain,

That makes your cheeks hurt The ocean is the depth of you,

It is where you were born,

Where you came from It holds the earth so tenderly and caresses its edges,

Caresses you It sustains you,

Lives within you in your salty being The clouds are everything inside you that is soft and magical Can we rest here,

Knowing that everything in nature is tending to us And that we can tend to everything in nature including ourselves That the earth is holding you,

The sky is nourishing you That the preciousness you see around you also radiates from the centre of your being You are precious Be softer with yourself,

Not because you're fragile Not because your beautiful nature is here to be tended to Perhaps breathing here in an oceanic bath of tenderness Breathing,

Feeling,

Noticing And in a few minutes my voice will return to guide you out of this meditation Rest here in the preciousness that is you Slowly and softly bringing your awareness back to your breath Resensitizing yourself to your body and the space around you Can you feel the air on your skin?

Whenever you're ready,

You may like to flutter your eyes open Emerge from this soft daydream And continue on with your day Knowing that life is precious And so are you
